I love how you’re saying “vagina” instead of “coochie” or “poontang” or the “p” word that a lot of women who do these types of videos, use. This is so satisfying and dignifying. Thank you! ❤️
Thank you. I appreciate the kind words.
Hi…. friend
@@nursenikkinp hi how are you… friend
That builds ethos
Im a single father here who has custody of my 2 daughters <<<<>>>>Im glad this type of information is out here. Dads need to know this also. 🙏🏽 🙏 🙏
most definitely
@@nursenikkinp thank you for distinguishing between the vagina and vulva. I think one reason why people think they need to wash their vagina is because the word “vagina” is used to refer to both the vagina and vulva, so people get confused that caring for the inside (the vagina) is not the same as caring for the outside (vulva).
I agree
glad you took the time to watch this to help your daughters 🖤
My mom is a nurse and, looking at the comments here, it’s only now I realize how privileged I am to have been taught this at a young age. This should be a part of health education and taught in 5th or 6th grade. The most my school taught me during our 1 day of health ed in 5th grade was that you get your period and need to use a tampon or pad. But we weren’t even taught how to insert the tampon…
Use a towel for baths. You can also ask the doctor these kinds of questions
@@scorpiocara6798 ok thank u
i feel blessed to be muslim. we’re taught to wash with water since potty training after poop or pee
im 17 and this was NEVER taught in sex ed…we need more people like you to educate us on important health issues like this thank you!
I was never taught, I’d assume it’s common sense and I’ve never had an STI or anything
@@We_Are_All_Vultures It’s not “common sense” for a toddler. Believe me, I wasn’t taught & I had to find out for myself after getting yeast infections at a young age & suffering in silence/embarrassment & not knowing what was even happening. The O.P. Is right, she was lucky & privileged to grow up having a knowledgeable & open minded parent to guide her.
I’m 25 and still don’t know how to use a tampon
@@ladyursala Just keep in mind tampons aren’t for everyone, either, I still think we have a long ways to go to make comfortable hygienic products for everyone. Menstrual cups are okay, but I’ve bought several and they’re far too much stress/hassle… plus, very difficult for plus size women to use. I hate pads, and I’m starting to try menstrual underwear… which I kinda prefer so far, but I still think there need to be more options.
I just graduated with a bs in microbiology and we researched vaginal microbiomes and just want to say that we learned that having more hair helps protect from unwanted bacteria getting it places you don’t want it. Shes absolutely right that hair can cause odor if not cleaned properly but if you have good habits then letting hair grow will actually keep you better protected. There is is an evolutionary reason we still grow it.
@@ellenoir6723 I only shared what I learned in my research analyzing data from the human genome project. I would love to be informed why it is dangerous to share the findings? Isn’t science supposed to be the investigation of truth? I am not claiming hair should be there, only adding information that supports that hair might be beneficial to human health. I’m especially curious how calling something that is a natural part of our bodies disgusting, is not dangerous?
17 here yet no one taught me how this cleaning works. Ever since my mom let me bath by myself when I was young she just told me “Wash your vagina” without properly teaching me how to, our health class in school doesn’t even teach this. This really helped me a lot. When I was 15 I noticed that my vagina started smelling, so I washed my feminine area more often than before, I did exactly all the opposite things you said, until I found this video. Thanks for the great lesson, I’ll make sure if ever I have daughters in the future I can teach them this.
BTW is it okay to use soap that is catered for the feminine area? I have this soap that is for cleaning the vagina it has a pH 5 written on the labels, I haven’t used it before (Just bought it the other day), do I have to consult a GYN?
@@agarose where’s the citation/paper.
@@ellenoir6723 wheres YOUR citation paper?
@@ellenoir6723 I no longer have access to the journals I used during that research project so I could not provide the microbiome correlated papers. However I did find free articles that support the same claim and there were many if you’d like to learn more beyond what I listed here. The long story short is that grooming provides opportunities for bacteria you don’t want in your body, an entrance. This is how most dangerous bacteria enter, through cuts (sometimes smaller than you can see with your own eyes). That said, I did also find some studies pointing out that pubic hair lice is significantly down since shaving has become popular. So its up to each person if they would rather minimize getting lice (an easily curable situation) or something more unpredictable that could cause a urinary or blood infection. There are so many variables when it comes to health, if you want to shave, I’m not saying its a bad or wrong choice. I simply believe the nurse should have mentioned that your choices have different outcomes. I personally used to shave until I started studying microbiomes and then I felt it was safer for me to drop the habit. I just want everyone to have the information they need to make the best choice for themselves. Either choice made should be respected. For anyone reading this, please know that whatever choice you make will not make you disgusting.

I was taught this growing up but im realizing how privileged i am that my mother did this for us. Your doing wonders for our future women nurse nikki 💕
We don’t even have proper sex ed in my country😭
I wouldn’t recommend using it. The vagina itself is self cleaning (when healthy) and doesn’t need it. It might be fine using it but it’s pretty likely that it will still be irritating even though it is “made for” this area. PH isn’t the only thing, it’s also about not killing/washing out the good bacteria. Plus those soaps often use perfumes that might be irritating. Chances are it will do more harm than good.
as a transmasc dude ive never wanted to pay any attention to my body since i hate it but recently ive made the decision to learn how to take care of it including down there properly. im honestly upset they never teach anyone this in school. thank you for helping 🙏
@@snowlise3127 Mine too
Please take care of yourself! Your body is important, and in my personal experience, a neglected body made me feel dysphoria the most. Have a wonderful day!
Ikr!!!! I literally never knew that you doesn’t clean with soap and im just like??
We don’t even have sex ed in our country
I used to get such awful UTI as a teenager- this is such good advice for young women, so many of us aren’t taught about how to clean ourselves. Thank you so much for pushing EDUCATION!
This what I’ve heard from sex therapists and sex educators: on the parts with hair, a gentle, unscented soap is good, like how Nurse Nikki described in the video. For your vulva and labia (the areas without hair, the lips and softer tissues areas, etc) just use warm water and your hand. And for your vagina, which the internal canal, do not mess with it! It will take care of itself through the discharge and such. 🙂 I hope this helps.
As a gay man who has his first daughter with my husband, this was SUPER INFORMATIVE! While I believe that same gendered parents can be just as good as straight parents, there are some blind spots that we need to cover when neither parent experienced the same thing their child will experience. Thank you so much for the clear explanations!
I’m 24 and JUST now I understand why not to wash the inside 🤦🏻♀️ thank you so much for this. I wish I knew this sooner, but better late than never ♥️
@Nerddom Square this is what most gyn tell me also just use unscented dove or ivory bar soap but to me ivory can be drying or irritating…Dove seems ok but I might try going soap free cause been hearing alot just using your hand and warm water might be ok.
Best of luck on your new journey of being a father!
But pls don’t fold the tp GET A NEW PIECE…wipe pee then the bum then get a new piece of toilet paper!! Never fold and reuse after wiping bum GET NEW TP .. YOU WILL POTENTIALLY GET STOOL I. THE URETHRA
I as a woman am proud of you for taking the initiative to make sure your little girl takes care of herself properly. But yes, never fold and reuse because it’s a bit unsanitary.
I wish you and your partner the best.
@@fabplays6559 Thank you so much!
@@-Mirai_Chan- Thank you so much!!
Terrifying that most girls are never taught this in their lives, you’re doing gods work. Thank you!
My wife is now paralyzed and this was very helpful to me
I’m almost 18 years old and I JUST learnt all of this stuff? are you kidding?! I wish schools would shift the take-away of health class from “It’s okay to experience change in your body!” to “THIS is how you deal with the change in your body.” I think giving us tools to deal with puberty rather than word on the street about it would be SO much more helpful; and I wish men were taught about this stuff too (same with women being taught basics about the penis). It would stop so much of the confusion around things like condoms. How many times i’ve had to explain to a girlfriend that the condom is not measured in length and rather girth is just annoying and shouldn’t be a stumble through life. I wish schools helped men and women to be more comfortable in their opposite sex’s genitals, because even as a lesbian I think it’s important for me to know how I can help amab friends in any way I can.
I’m literally 18, almost 19 and I feel like I screwed myself over 😱 I’ve been scrubbing it with soap this entire time and I had no idea 🙃 Thank you so much, hopefully knowing this will help me tons. Hopefully it’s not too late to start over!
Basically all I ever learned from in-school health lessons was that boobs grow, periods suck, and drugs bad, with little to no discussion on proper body maintenance, so I really appreciate your channel! It’s very helpful and informative! 👍
literally 😭
they never even taught us if your poop suddenly becomes black or if your pee is always foamy at the top that you need to immediately see a doctor
im proud of you! i know its difficult, but i know you can do this :3 keep going, stay strong!

Girl..keep scrubbing. Don’t listen to these folks
Im 29 and I never was taught any of this! It’s so embarrassing but the truth. I wonder why schools don’t teach us this stuff but yet they do give sex Ed classes and in elementary school they talk to us about puberty and periods. Thank you for making this video,it’s simple and yet very informative and gets Straight to the point!
Thank you so much! As a trans masc thinking about my body can be really uncomftorble, but sometimes you need to. I REALLY needed help learning how to clean down there.
I love the way you teach our sisters thank you
Thanks for this informative topic, I am a teenage mom so it made my life very easy to teach my daughter how to take care of that sensitive part of our body.
@@beautifulstar2119 Please don’t mislead her. It’s actually not suitable to use soap. Just using warm water is perfect.
I was told the same and when mine didn’t grow i asked my mom if I was actually a boy 😂
