Get Rid OF Yeast Infection NOW!!
Check out the common reasons and also therapies of yeast infections, which impact 3 out of every 4 individuals with a vaginal canal.
—
The vaginal area harbors numerous various kinds of microbes. Yeast infection yeasts are usually existing in tiny quantities and most of the time, these fungi are safe. But, under specific conditions, Candida albicans yeasts can create infections. One species in particular is the common culprit of vaginal yeast infections. So, exactly how specifically does a yeast infection happen? Liesbeth Demuyser checks out.

I love how ted ed talks about issues others are ashamed to talk about. My daily dose of ted ed.🥰😊
im in loooove with this animation style, its so educational and explanatory while stylish as well. great job and thank you for discussing something that should be talked about more!
I get them chronically and once I got oral thrush so bad that not only was my whole tongue covered, but the yeast got extra hungry and started devouring huge deep pits in my tongue that caused agonizing pain 24/7 and I couldn’t really eat and barely even drank for about 3-4 weeks because my tongue felt filled with glass. It was brutal and just wouldn’t get better. I lost like 36lbs
This video helps me empathize more with the problems women face. Thank you very much!
” We have been taught far more about shame than about our anatomy ” ——- hey that’s so true
Thank you for touching upon topics like this. Can we get more videos touching upon women’s issues that are common but rarely talked about
I wish schools were required to teach this stuff.
We don’t know enough about the female body, full stop. I had a benign tumor growing in my abdomen that wasn’t picked up on ultrasounds. For years, I told multiple doctors that I was in excruciating pain, and every single one told me it was either 1) all in my head, 2) just my hormones, or 3) a ploy to get drugs. Tumor wasn’t removed until I went in for an appendix removal and the surgeon noticed it
The opening quote hit hard. I wish more people would see this, especially those who were conditioned that our bodies are shameful and should not be talked about. Thank you, TED-Ed! ❤️
Yeast bacteria? I’ve never even heard about this before in my life. This just shows how much women problems aren’t talked as much as it should be. Thanks for the amazing video 👍
Between this and learning about menstrual cycles, I have to say to all of us men watching this: appreciate the women in your lives. They go through issues with their bodies that we can’t even imagine.
Yeast is a kind of tiny microscopic fungi, not bacteria..
very informative, it would be great to get more research on women’s health
Is wild how common cases like this are… I remember searching about cysts when one was caught in a regular checkup and was horrified with how frequently patients dies from them rupturing, not to mention undergoing surgery to remove one in the size of a freaking volleyball! We need more research and more accessible information.
@J P common.same can be said abput narrator.
Pls target the anti stuff not the omitted stuff.
You cannot be always correct on everyone poltical spectrum.
Let remove man,women and male and female.
And describe biological phenomena as xx,xy,xxy,xyy.
@hmm mm but xxy don’t always describe people either. There are intersex beings
@Beatriz Zacharias Exactly! Or in my case, if that tumor hadn’t been benign, I hate to think how that would have worked out for me
I remember as a teen my mother, sister and I all had a yeast infection at the same time! It was insane! Took a bit of detective work, but we figured out why. It was the toilet paper! Scented toilet paper had recently become popular and mom decided to buy some. Ugh! Never again!
One thing rarely mentioned but that can promote yeast growth is glycerin in personal lubricants. My wife has been infection-free since switching away from K-Y to a glycerin-free lubricant. Wish we’d known that years ago!
I’ve had it for 12 years now. It’s basically constantly there even when there are no symptoms like itching. Rarely, it gets unbearable and nerve wrecking. I’ve tried everything from remedies to clothing change and visiting doctors even tried manifesting it to go away and it hasn’t. I just learned to accept it as it is now. I may not be able to get into relationships and that’s fine. It taught me to focus on other aspects of myself.
I love how this video addresses the stigma surrounding women’s health, and how it impacts the knowledge we have of it, such good information very well transmitted!
When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I had to take antibiotics that may have caused a perisistent yeast infection. I seriously had no knowledge on it or even knew it was this common so I was scared to tell anyone about it. Fortunately a buttload of yakult and yogurt did the trick for me to get my balance back again, but it sure would’ve been helpful to have known more about something this common
The quote wasn’t read aloud, so I don’t know what it was. Can someone please retype it for me? And can TEDEd please add a voice-over to include #VisuallyImpaired audiences?
@I Z no
@Mad I CarMoody we have been taught far more about shame than about our anatomy
The animation is beautiful, hypotonic, and rad…wanna live inside
Shame is a simple and basic human value which is part of morals. Unlike anatomy, which is part of science that needs to be studied and is still being researched. Comparing them both is nonsense.
@Fluffle Cake Thank you!
@Mandeep kumar Raywhy would they teach this?, It is highschool not med school.
@SKYRAL his meaning is basic women health. He’s probably Indian and here this type of topics are looked as shame and in my own school even our own teacher found “women health care” shameful that she slipped the whole topic. She just said to do self study.
@GOOD FARMER absolutely correct 👏
I wish more people could see this it actually does help us learn a bit about our bodies.
@Cande Morán What
Like how much yogurt did you eat?
That’s definitely true. Since I switch I yet to have yeast infection, its also better to prevent UTI.
Glycerin lub are the worst.
Yeast is yeast, like the yeast in your bread. It is not a bacterium. It is a fungus.
I hate taking antibiotics. I always have an upset stomach for months after.
Great discussion of a ubiquitous malady: covers physiology, value of probiotics, the inattention of the medical establishment. Great job!
@Shehin Dileep It refers to how in schools and communities around the world we aren’t taught about our bodies and instead we’re instilled with shame towards them, or at least it used to be heavily like that.
How tf is shame a value? specially towards one’s standard physical form?
Didn’t your doctor give you probiotics to take 1h after the antibiotic?
@vert I have never in my life been given probiotics after antibiotics.
Yes, or sorbitol. It basically feeds the yeast. I tried one that had sorbitol and got a yeast infection for the first time in my life.
w h y does tht exist
@Nazbol gonna cry ?
Bidet for the win
I hate it when they say it’s all in ur head 🙄 like where tf is the pain coming from then? I have IBS related problems and this particular doctor kept telling me it’s nothing and that it’s all in my head even citing example of a patient coming to doc saying he lost his hand while his hand was completely fine. Wtf
@Scarletletter were you seeing sigmund freud? Jfc
@Ms Jackson sure I’ll give that a try next time I get a yeast infection. I get them chronically like 5-6x a year. I was actually on antibiotics last month for an infection and guess what… Got a yeast infection. Two actually. I got an oral one and a penile one (which is rare apparently) both at the same time.
Thankfully it wasn’t too bad and it cleared up fairly quickly. But it’s so annoying how often I get em.
@👺samurai boi ok sure
@Books Rebound don’t wait till you get it start taking and drinking your probiotics now and make it a habit… it’s very beneficial you’ll never get that annoying yeast again…
@Books Rebound and with probiotics you’ll never need anymore antibiotics again..
@Ms Jackson Really? Do you mean I’ll never need antibiotics for a yeast infection or I’ll just never need antibiotics period? That seems surprising cause I don’t think probiotics will help me get over an infection in my wrist, or a dental infection or whatever?
@tuxedobob2 You really are assuming everyone is American huh?
Which brand do you use, if you don’t mind me asking?
@[REDACTED] Sure, let’s pretend I think everyone is American instead of it simply being a comment on the state of American politics.
@Nazbol Protected? Femicide says hi
@Xinyue Li Nope. He specifically brought up women’s issues in comparison to men’s. He’s framing it like men have no issues. So your straw man doesn’t apply here. Go cry and be sexist and invalidate male victims somewhere else.
@Xx_SomeSceneCath0lic_xX because certain people can’t accept or are uncomfortable with the fact that their/other’s bodily orafice doesn’t smell like a bouquet of fresh cut flowers after the rain instead of literally being a meat hole.
I’ve dealt with this basically my entire life and one of the things that I found really helped is switching period products. I had been using pads and the pharmacist told me that especially the ones that are more plastic instead of cotton really help to grow those harmful yeasts and stuff. I ended up switching to reusable period pads and mestrual cups and it helped a lot. I use a organic laundry detergent when I put them in the wash. Also taking supplements that have those lactobicilli really helped. Just thought I’t might help someone out there, especially is you get yeast infection or UTIs right after or at the end of your period.
By your logic, men cannot be women. Thank you for this confirmation.
@Amtra1778 LMBOO IKR
@Your Mom obviously 🙄 the comment was just trying to show that women have to go through a lot plus why you so pressed? The comment is talking about women why you bring up men it’s so annoying but if women were to do the same y’all would be pressed just the same get off your high horse and just admit women have it harder.
@Terrance Miller What is a “child bearing person”?
This video wasn’t about women’s health.
@Bella Capulet eat less sugar, treat the diabetes
@Momo can you not. I’ve had diabetes since I was a child. My endocrinologist and I know what my diet should consist of.
It’s not as simple as eat less sugar. I wish it was. But gee why didn’t I think of that. 🙄
That is true. Years ago we switched to organic coconut oil as a lubricant there have been no yeast infections, it has been over ten years.
@tuxedobob2 you obviously assumed him to be American, stop pretending. And even if you didn’t, why make a reference to your American politics, as though people from the rest of the world will understand the “joke”? You’re just embarrassing yourself
I’m seeing that a lot with the older doctors I visit. That’s why I stick with younger doctors these days. They may not be as experienced, but the newer generations of medical professionals are really being taught the importance of non-judgement and patient-centred care, something that older doctors seem to lack
Yeah, nothing scented should be near that place.
Wow good luck to you!
Does yeast infection cause fever,and lower stomach pain and running nose,sore throat.
I can truly understand as i myself have been suffering from this for more than 10 years… i am married and have kids so dont worry about the relationship stuff.. go ahead and enjoy your life… sometimes i feel mine is from genetics as my sisters also have it…
@Noor Azeem Reading this really gave me a spark of hope and relief thank you ♥️
