Think about this video clip as an audio podcast (lots of me speaking) with some video (mainly of me chatting). I'll be going over keto relevant topics that remain in the information, reviewing often asked inquiries from my viewers, and in some cases speaking about some non-keto things (but most likely cooking related).
In this episode, I try out a new microphone, I discuss my setting on testimonial videos, I suggest we relabel "filthy" keto, I speak about "ingredient anxiety", and also I supply an update on my newest urology visit.

Seems like the “dirty” keto is for what many consider inflammatory foods, but the error is they may not be inflammatory for all. I get the oils, but others no. I unfortunately just found out this week I’m allergic to cinnamon, cloves, curry, nutmeg. Citrus peals, roses, hyacinths, lavender, etc! Just shoot me! Do I tell everyone else they cannot have those things? Ketosis is ketosis…period! Flexible vs strict sounds good to me. My flexable and strict will be different for ne…like maybe sneak some lemon peel in? Have a great one Steve
I’m just here because I enjoy the content. Weather it be cooking, podcast, reviews or anything. I personally enjoy your honest opinions. Keep up the great work!!
I so agree with you on labels people have placed on keto. I simply say I’m eating low carb. I found out rather quickly how many Keto experts there are. Who knew! 🙂 In addition, I’m a Type 2 diabetic so I watch my carb intake even more closely than a person who is eating 50 carbs and still in ketosis.
I enjoy the variety in your channel Steve. You do you!
I love your alternate terms for keto, and from now on thats the way I will describe it. I never cared for “dirty keto” and I’m quite sure I’ve never said it!! 😁😆😅
Interesting to hear about your prostate issues, not TMI at all. My husband almost had that Urolift procedure, but had to go with TURP instead . We all face these issues at times, and information is good to share. Thanks Steve
I don’t like to put a labels on myself let alone anyone else. I guess you would call me more of a serious or strict keto, it’s because I have too! As a diabetic over 27 years, I still experience high blood. (sometimes in the 200 or about) right now I am trying the 80 fat/20 protein. Eating smaller meals separated by at least 3 hours It is helping, seeing some of the lowest blood sugar’s i’ve seen in a long time. I am definitely an n=1 experiment. I am definitely going to keep ketoing on.
Flexible, alternative, dirty, clean, and strict all sound good to me. I wouldn’t worry too much about it, Steve. You have companies throwing KETO on lableling that isn’t even keto friendly. You have great content. Keep up the awesome work. Thanks
Damn man, you look really good. That keto is doing Wonders for you. Look better, be healthyer. Whats to not like? Starting my own journey back to health, so wish me luck.
Flexible and strict keto are great suggestions.
I love the term flexible keto .. I generally don’t eat keto foods .. I cook simple Whole Foods 95% of the time .. but I’m going into the hospital next month for the 3 rd time in a year and a half .. my 2nd total knee replacement .. and I don’t eat hospital food .. so I bring keto shakes/ bars to the hospital with me .. have you seen the 💩they feed you in the hospital 🙀… people need to realize life happens and we are all just doing the best we can
Yay for flexible keto and strict keto, I Also like Dr Westman’s prescription keto
I made the Chuck roast recipe this weekend. I know some might have heard of something similar BUT I had not. It was really good and I will make again. I used the keto chow beef soup mix. Thanks for the variety your channel brings.
I came across your videos about stopping alcohol and just had this new video pop into my feed and my first thought was ‘damn, Steve is looking lean!’. Your progress is impressive so well done, friend! You’re an inspiration!
I’m here for as many podcasts and cooking videos as I can catch – I do miss the leanbodymind vids! – though I skip most of the product reviews simply because I can’t make them fit my budget.
I like “flexible” keto, and “wholistic” keto that someone else mentioned.
Edit: any and all health info is welcome, you just never know!
I applaud your desire for kindness and inclusiveness in the keto community. Sadly, however it’s labeled we will still encounter those with a critical spirit. If being on this keto journey has taught me anything (I am still learning daily) is that this lifestyle is not a one size fits all. It is a “diet” (as in our diet consists of) of flexibility. Celebrating with you on finding a “likeminded” physician. It is so important in managing chronic conditions. Also, great job on letting negative comments go! Keep your eyes focused ahead and find encouragement in all of the positive comments about your amazing content!!!
Thank you!!!! There is no dirty, lazy, or clean keto!!! I swear, I get so 😩 of those dietary cliches
You have great content Steve👍and I love the variety and balance and exploring different products, ideas, recipes, experiments etc. 💕
Totally agree with getting rid of those terms!!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Maltodextrin is my “hill to die on”. I was eating sugar-free Jello and it kicked me almost out of ketosis. Some people who do dirty keto have no problem with it.
There are now commercials about the Uro lift making it seem like a walk in the park.
Thank you for your informative videos.
I agree. Steve is an absolute inspiration. Found his channel during crisis and wow! It helped
@CathyWoofter , I say “low carb” now too. The word “Keto” means something different to nearly every person I’ve discussed it with. I don’t feel the need to divulge my specific dietary choices.
I think the Keto Twins have a lock on one of the best replacement terms with “Technically Keto”. I know its already taken but the term seems to be broad enough to cover all aspects the lifestyle.
I am lucky that my hospital has a very open menu. Did my knee last year and I could order bacon and eggs for breakfast, sliced meats and cheese for lunch and meat and low carb veggies for dinner. But I am not on a “restricted medical diet”so I could continue the proper way of eating. I actually enjoyed the hospital food.
@Carol32547 been there with the allergy tests! I was told I was basically allergic to myself. Well heck how do you get away from yourself!? Anyway, I couldn’t take shots because they were afraid I’d go into anaphylaxis shock. Yes, it’s been an interesting ride. After years of working through issues, I started introducing things back. Eating Keto has helped a lot. God bless you Miss Carol! ❤️
Of course, it’s alright for you to share with us about anything. We’re ALL (including YOU) here to be supportive of others on the Keto journey. You provide good info on many different topics. Keep up the great job you’re doing for so many of us who are grateful!
Wow you are allergic to a lot of things! How did you find out? Was it one of those at home tests kits?
@Mondaycat7 you got a menu 🤣🤣🤣.. no such luck here .. my hospital diabetic diet requires I eat 45 carbs with each meal .. the nutritionist told me it was dangerous not to eat my carbs .. I had to keep my blood sugar stable .. I gave her the food tray back filled with “some words”…🤣🤣🤣.. the previous Nov I had been admitted for acute kidney injury .. (im fine now my eGFR is back up to 105) but I had a newby nutritionist who sat at my bedside and was teaching me “how to eat”… by the time I was done with him i think he was on the verge of tears … told him I would just rather not eat than eat the refined 💩with way too many carbs they served at the hospital ..
@Ant Heitmann I got allergy panels placed on my back. The tested me for 90 different things. I heard they are not reliable but just a few days without cinnamon in my coffee I feel the difference. I am also allergic to pine snd fragrance mix. Mostly in cosmetics. I’ve been suffering for almost a year. I’m glad to have an answer at last. I’m going to try SIBO and SIFO treatments and hopeful that will help. Have a blessed day!
@CW the actual names of my allergies are “Balsum of Peru and fragrance mix” Dang gf…allergic to self…I cannot imagine! So very glad keto is helping you…maybe you will be one of those ketovore or. Carnivore miracles I pray!!
I was cheering out loud with every point of this video! Thank you for being another voice in support of all of these topics, and a HUGE thank you for sharing your journey with your prostate health. So many men are nervous to be open about it and even go see their doctors, so this is a huge encouragement to those guys. Glad to hear that is going well, too. 👏
Same here! Low Carb, T2D, and don’t let the keto snobs dictate what’s right or wrong. A1C has gone down, lost weight, labs are looking good. That’s it. No Drama. 🙂
Carniverous Me thinks she might be allergic to cinnamon, which she loves. Interestingly I was watching a video this afternoon and it said that with some foods that we are allergic to we actually crave them because they give us an adrenaline hit. YT Channel called Health Results; video title: Nutritionist: I stopped eating tomatoes and came off all my meds
Me as well. I just say Low Carb. Keto is a metabolic state so does not really mean what people are thinking it means. I am not trying to be in ketosis but I know that there are times that I am and times when I’m not.
People should pay more attention to what goes in their mouth than what comes out, don’t understand how our language has got so offence, what is up with low carb?
