Thank you for this! I needed it. And I loved the quote at the beginning also.
Stronger Abs do wonders. My shoulders n wrists would never allow me to hang. I do the rotation on a floor mat. Slow meditative intentional stretches help the structure and the mind.
Thanks Bob and Brad! I’m going to make more of an effort to get out there and walk and thanks, Brad, for the tip about increasing the pace helps too. I know myself, with spondylolisthesis, just shuffling along increases my pain so I’m definitely going to walk at a faster clip.
Last summer I could not walk more than 100 feet.
I had a cortisone shot in my lower back to get me on my feet and start the recovery process.
I slowly built my steps up and took care not to lift or strain my back in any way.
It has been a long road to recovery but I am 90% better.
I know my back will not take anymore abuse whatsoever, but I am grateful to be on my feet again.
I am 55 and back in my 20’s did weight lifting.Every so often I would “Throw out my back”
No biggie I thought took a couple days and I felt better UNTIL last year.
People take their body and health for granted until something happens.
Take care of yourself.
Can you do a video on spinal flexion vs extension?
I have disc issues and extension-based exercises help keep them at bay, but often times I feel like I reach a point of becoming overextended and overly stiff. It starts to feel right to do flexion exercises, but they easily bring back the old pain. Do I have to settle with back stiffness there?
Love your videos guys, i was just wondering, what is your take on the reversed hyperextension excercise to strengthen the back and to treat low back pain?
Greetings from Norway.
Just a public thank you guys. I am 66 with stenosys and deteriorating disc and managing to avoid surgery and continue to play a little tennis, using the exercises you prescribe. Some work great, some are uncomfortable but as you always say, you have to self manage and select those which give relief and are pain free, In the UK it is normal that with a bad back, you go to the docs who prescribes rest and pain killers. You go back and you get an MRI and see a consultant, The consultant then outlines surgical options. They generally know nothing of what you feature and are sceptical of chiro, pilates, ostepaths etc, but I can testify it works and my sports playing friends have confirmed it also. Long may it continue, and thank you so much for your videos. Two gems.
That’s me at the moment. Thinking of helping patient instead of my back and now struggle is real. But I am trying my best not to strain my back. I make 6 and 1/2 beds and I am really struggling. Oh well I learn now. Still trying to recover 😊.
Wow that bicycle one with the hands behind the back just gave me complete relief from 2 days of back spasm.
To all those who are suffering from lower back pain, and if you are feeling lost because you can’t sleep or sit properly,.. don’t worry .. this is curable.. I have been going through this pain for last 4yrs and I felt difference in just 3 days after changing mattress, cushion of chair, some exercise and some lifestyle changes.. change your environment to ergonomic as much as possible.. may god bless you all.. This exercise is really effective.
I followed these exercises and my lower back pain is gone in one day. I did the routines like every 2 hours. Thank you Bob and Brad
Thanks guys am gonna try some of these out!
My old personal trainer said to me “problem alot of people make is getting into the habbit of bending over to pick things up but you should be squatting down to, just watch how a baby or toddler pick things up”
So he taught me how to squat properly with correct posture and techniques, i just need to get into routine of doing it along side some of these exercises.
You guys really help my upper back pain, now for lower back 😂
@Rob Carstuff• I HAVE HAD LOWER BACK PAIN SINCE 1979 , CARRIED ON WORKING SEVEN DAYS A WEEK NONE STOP FOR TWENTY YEARS CONTINUES, SOME TIME WITH CONSIDERABLE PAIN AND SEVERE BACK SPASMS,IN 2013 MRI SCAN WAS DONE . THE RESULTS WERE NO DISCS IN MY LOWER SPINE ( DISCS LEAKED AND DEHYDRATED) .NOW I HAVE TO MANAGE MY LIFE VERY CAREFULLY, BECAUSE OF RED FLAGS I HAVE BEEN TOLD. I WOULD NOT WISH WHAT I HAVE TO GO THROUGH 24/7 ON ANYONE.
I started watching your video having a lot of lower back pain and just followed along with what you were doing for the short few times that you did it and now I feel much better
Thanks for this video! It helped me so much!
Many many Thanks once again Bob and Brad. Great and So nice to see both of you again.
Thanks, you guys give great advice and are also very practical and entertaining! Thumbs up from Georgia!
what mattress do you use?
Hi Bob and Brad: thanks so much for your videos! I have lower back pain for over 3 years. Currently, also upper and neck pain. I do many exercises but nothing really consistent because most help a bit but it’s unclear if I’m doing enough or too much. When you say we shouldn’t go where it’s painful, do you mean, it’s bad if we do a move that makes it painful? Or, since it’s usually painful, when we do the exercise, we should go as much as we can handle the pain? (I don’t mind the momentarily pain if I know that it’ll, eventually, help me get rid of the chronic pain.) For instance, the cobra pose, other poses, and even walking most times is painful. The rumble roller is painful, and in some points very painful, but I suspect it’s supposed to help that way, no? Please advise? Thanks.
Today this message was very reassuring. I am 4 11 and trying to get comfortable for work and its almost impossible. I work in pain and the height of my desk and chair are difficult because nothing is really made for me. but I figure the exercise and a standing desk might be whats best but man oh man. Today I am upset about it and struggling to focus on my work. Thank you for these words. New mattress is definitely high up there on my to do list.
Pppppppp
You guys rock. Thanks for the video. Back pain sucks. I have arthritis in my lower back, will try this exercises.
Thank you! Already getting relief from the “cat” pose and the windshield wipers.
I’ve watched your channel many, many times..I was referred to you..
In 1985 I was in a near fatal accident, and in fact its nothing less than a miracle I’m alive today..a woman made a left turn in front of my motorcycle..typical.
Such trauma to my entire body and as I get older it is almost unbearable at times the pain I’m in. It affects every inch of my body. But my back is the worst..I’ve had sciatica 3 times that lasted over a month at times..I now also have degenerative disc disease..I’m now a 67 year young woman. These exercises look so painful buy I’m gonna try…no amount of settlement from that accident could ever put my body back the way it was prior..
What mattress
Ive done all this except a new mattress as I cannot afford one
