Many thanks for watching. I wish this assisted clarify the 16 most significant blunders on keto. I'll see you in the next video clip.
I know I’ve said this before Dr Berg, but you were a huge inspiration for me to start my weight loss channel. After years of struggling with overeating and depression, I’m finally getting my weight under control. I’m now down 31lbs in 15 days, and feeling more optimistic than ever. Just want to say thank so much.
Watch this space! 😊💪🏾
Omg the cheat day act out of Karen was priceless!! 😂😂😂 That’s the best analogy for people justifying bread and pasta for girls’ night out. 😝
I followed your keto plan Dr. Berg, not really for weight loss, but for health, I was already athletic, after 6 months I lost 15lbs of the little fat I had and muscles, but I felt good and energized, especial on OMAD, but too many complaints from the wife, saying I look like a skeleton, but I felt better than I did for years, I’m 52 and was working out twice a day, too much cardio I think, so I’m going to do 2 meals a day, but staying on keto , it’s feels really great to be in ketosis, thank you for the inspiration
Thanks Berg!! This is going into deeper details of what we’re actually consuming and how it affects our keto/IF diet 🙌🏼
Keto combined with Intermittent Fasting its a MIRACLE.
I have been losing weight and feeling great like a dream.
Thoughts on Cheat Days: even if it’s a cheat bite, meal or day, it can easily turn into a cheat weekend, week, month.
And, remember as contemplating a cheat of any size, remember how you wanted to get into ketosis and the difficulty when first limiting carbs. Think of this and if cheating is worth the days it may take to return to ketosis.
I visualize weighing the want of the benefits a cheat on one hand (short term), and the want of the benefits of ketosis (long term) on the other.
At age 57 I was able to lose 56.5 lbs within 6 months……just in time for a global pandemic and quarantine starting March 2020. I did ok and maintained 50 lbs weight loss until fall 2020; however, mentally and emotionally it all began to tear-down my resolve. I made a conscious decision to “give myself some grace” in dealing with how our world had changed (as well as several family losses NOT due to the virus). Well, it’s a year later and I’m carrying 40 lbs of “grace” and I’ve had about 40 “day 1 of keto”, even got 5.5 weeks into a fresh start and the mental part of getting back to health is my biggest challenge. But I recall how utterly awesome I felt when my body was healthy and slender! That hasn’t left me. So I will keep at it. Your videos mean so much to help me stay focused. At the minimum at least I know from experience what to do. Aligning head and heart should be so easy. But it isn’t.
My cheat meal. was for two months 😁
Your anti cheat day stance was hysterical. I do allow myself some carbs on the weekend. I’ll try to think of your “cheat days don’t work in marriages or diets” next time I think about eating those carbs. Let’s see if it works.
I learn from Dr. Berg and Dr. Fung about keto/intermittent diet. It’s been 7 weeks and I lost 20 lbs. I’m 5’3″ and 149lbs now!!!😊
This is the absolute truth. I’ve been IF 20/4 & keto for 4 years. No reason to ever change these habits. I’ll be 60 in April, 5’0″, 108 lbs., exercise every morning.
I recommend 30 days before you will see results because that’s what happened with me. It was crazy how the fat melted off once I was engaged for 30 days the weeks that followed 5 lbs per week on average for weight loss.
In the beginning I’m strugguling to do the intermidiate fasting. I just do healthy keto. Then i can slowly reduced to 2 meals a day. It was took me around 3 months time. Then started last saturday, i’m able to do fasting more then 3 days time without feeling hungry✌🏻. I just drink green tea(without caffine), wheat glass juice powder(dr. Berg) and sea salt.
I know my personality and my weak points. It is BEST for me not to cheat. Hubby and daughter ordered pizza. I thought just one slice, after one bite, I thought my heart will be racing after this and my BP will soar. I put the pizza back and ate something else that was more healthy. I started in Sept but changed eating habits to “clean” eating about 3 years ago. It’s working for me. My goal is as I age, 68 now, to not take any meds…..My food is my meds:)
@Pam Williams thank you
@joey lee pui ling Thank you for sharing this! It’s funny as in this journey there are several ways to get back on track and I find I can easily do a 16-19 hour fast right away day after day. And there are results right away. It’s a great building block. It makes me realize how our eating is by the clock and the hardest thing to do can be eating when we choose. From starting school, then work. It is all decided for us “when” to eat. I need to try extending my fasting time as you have!
@Berta Lovejoy I don’t understand how you can eat 7-10 cups of veg? That is a lot to me
@tonpe92 personally I eat 2 cups steamed broccoli for lunch, 1-2 cup celery snack, 1 cup asparagus at dinner and a MASSIVE salad – 8oz baby arugula, 3 vine ripe tomatoes, whole cucumber, whole avocado, whole lemon. I think that covers 7-10 cups of vegetables.
It is a lot at first, especially the salad, but drizzling it with olive oil and balsamic vinegar+ salt and pepper makes it easier to eat and also makes it easy to digest.
To do true healthy keto it is vital to eat this many veggies to meet our fiber and nutrient needs
She totally nailed it😅🤣🤣Loved it!!!
1. Not reading ingredients
2. Not looking at serving size
3. Jugging success on weight loss
4. Comparing your results with others
5. Not enough salt “sea salt”
6. Cheat day
7. Too much to/ to little fat
8. Too much protein
9. Not doing if /w keto
10. Base ketosis on urine strips
11. Giving up when it’s working
12. Changing something when it’s working
13. Eating when you are not hungry
14. Estimation of effort and time is not correct
15. Hunger vs time to eat
16. Tiny amount of carbs blocks a longer time of fat burning.
I’ve been a diabetic since my 20s (Type 2), I’m now 50 and I’m invested to make this change for good. Thank you Dr. Berg for all this information. No more cheat days, not even for the Holiday. Started August 1st, 2021 and still going. Down over 20lbs, feeling more energy, mood has improved, my eye sight has improved, thinking is better and I just feel healthier overall. Keep me in your prayers.
That’s nice to hear…. Thanks for sharing.
Took me 3 months to reverse insulin resistance. I lost 30 lbs by that time, then another 10 lbs over 8 weeks…by the time spring came around I weighed 128lbs at 5’9ish tall at almost 50 years of age. It’s nice being able to wear a hip bathing suit in public without shame.
I’m 58 and had a huge beer gut and bad knees that forced me to stop work, I started keto in January 2021and by July I’d lost 80lbs, I went from a 42 waist (my belt line was under my big gut) and ended up being a true 34 waist.
I went back to work and just wear a light knee brace now.
@Manoo42 i lost 8.5 kg in 16 days from 108 kg /182 cm to 99.5 with omad and with out exercise , 0 sugar , pasta carbs
just pork and vegetables
the target is 79-80 kg
@TheMakyato I assume that was the FIRST 16 day when you purge your system of carbs and water. It doesnt sound like a very interesting diet, hopefully you can sustain your weight loss.
@Manoo42 Concerning interesting diets… from commenter @alpha on Dr Berg’s video, How to Start Keto Correctly:
“The best advice I can give you is to change your relationship with food. Most cultures use food to celebrate, this makes food enjoyable. Stop enjoying food, eat things you don’t like. Most people don’t like work but they still go to work. Look at food the same way. Look at food for its nutritional value not the taste. Also, think of why you drink liquids, you need water that’s all, so just drink a good clean filtered water. I hope this helps you reach your goals.”
At 85 yrs, looking 60, I certainly agree with Dr. Berg’s advice. Even the out of this world stresses, I’m feeling fantastic thank God.
WOW!!! Very encouraging and inspiring..
Dr ekberg too
@R Gee I have difficulty with how much carbs to take. Do you count every carb, for example, also the carbs in an avocado? Or only count the carbs in rice of pasta? I’m `afraid’ to do keto wrong and then do it for nothing.
By cutting my sugar consumption down to next to nothing, weeding out processed foods, and exercising daily, I saw a pound or two and a better complexion sooner than that.
My husband also complained about my Keto diet, but only because he was losing weight and is 65 yrs old and said he needs more body mass. I told him he could cook and eat more. He just won’t fix anything himself except breakfast so he is stuck with lots of veggies, salads and grass fed meats!
✊🏿
Thank you so much for saying that. So glad I found this video so I don’t give up
When you say reverse, do you mean it’s only reversed as long as you’re eating keto now. Or do you mean you are cured? As in even if you eat a normal (bad) meal your insulin resistance is fixed? I don’t intend to eat bad, I’m just trying to understand what it really means when people say reversed. Thank you. And congrats!
Hi im Marlene from south africa, i just started this diet 2 weeks ago and already lost over 2kg. I don’t feel hungry, already seeing a decrease needed in my meds. Cut down on meds as sugar levels are dropping. Very happy, thank you Dr Berg!!!
I’d say the 5 lbs a week is wonderful but don’t be disappointed if it drops down to 1-2 lbs a week. That means you’ve reached a point where your insides are healthy and now you’re losing weight like a healthy person.
Exact same thing happened to me. I curse the pandemic-it messed up my eating patterns and I fell down the carb/sugar/fat hole. I’m the heaviest I’ve been in 15 years.
“nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels”
Thank you. After falling off for a few days I hit a plateau and couldn’t lose. I was losing a pound a week. Now going to start again and wait for 30 days before I hope for results.
If you do say so yourself eh?
@Neal McEneaney yes, I do not look my age at all due to..no sugar, Vit. Supplements, work out, and a fervent follower of Jesus Christ. Don’t believe me? Look at my FB photo, it’s 2 yrs old..I was 84…. Blessings
@monica lemmer Our youth is renewed as the eagle.
@gail mazzotta amen and amen sister…He is an awesome loving God!!!
Wow you got amazing results 👏 😍
@blah blahblah thank you, yes you can do it..still doing squats (the legs go first) ad planks…no sugar, eat low carb, high protein and fats. Here is a favorite dessert..frozen strawberries (or black) 1/2 c Carbmaster milk, 1/4 c whipping cram, sweetener I use Splenda..whip in your blender and voila…A frozen slushy…you can use any frozen fruit if you don’t have a sugar problem…blessings
That’s very inspiring
OMG!! You guys are the best!!
🙏 that’s Awesome;
It’s July 4, 2022. How are you doing now? I’m restarting WW.
This is so much encouragement… thanks so much
@Angel van den berg I understand your worries, I would suggest you you do it under medical advise and as a complement, find some trustable Keto experts online like Dr. Eric Berg YouTube Channel. Regarding the amount of carbs, around 60 grams a day it is considered enough, depending on your physical constitution. Good luck.
Awesome!!!!
Amen. It costs me 3 days. I have a calendar and I plot out my weight loss weekly. When I stay on track, it can predict it. So when I see that I missed out on 5lbs of weight loss because I cheated, it burns.
Lmao@ 40lbs of grace
@Jen Jen 5htp and tyrosine seem to help me get back on track. 400mg 2x a day for the 5htp. 750 2x a day for the tyrosine. It makes serotonin and dopamine in my brain. Helps me feel full and kick cravings. It usually only takes 3 days.
Hi Marlene, how is it going?
Honestly my hunger and cravings have gone, my mood is up, I’m calmer emotionally. I’m still surprised, well slightly shocked by it. I love it. Thank you Dr Berg.
So what have you learned ?
@MB M kkkkkkkkkkokkm
Classic English humour.
I’m learning so much from you! Day 4 on keto for me. Trying to reduce weight, correct sugar cravings and ease my severe fibromyalgia symptoms. I’m addicted to your channel! Blessings from the UK 🇬🇧 🙏
@Sherry it’s never too late I’ve been Keto for 2 weeks I’m 47 and feel great 🎉
lol 7 week 20 pound?? I am fasting and I am in high ketosis right now and lost 11 pound in 1 week lol
Everyone should stop cheating! It’s not good for us
Congratulations . Great job!
😀😃😄😆
Any update?
DAY 8 on PURE Keto…no cheats like I’ve done in the past
1) Pants falling off now 2) Diarrhea still sometimes 3) More energy 4) Waking up with less overall pain 5) Heart racing at slightest anxiety stopped 5) Skin and face noticeably different 6) Eye redness in morning going way 6) Metalic morning taste in mouth gone 7) Gums not sore 8) Oily skin drying out 9) Testosterone levels coming back 10) Overall body pain subsiding 11) “Dizzy” feeling gone 12) Eating without feeling tired
