Hey cute blondy..Great video..in a nut shell you explained in very simple way most of basic stuff about R-ALA.
Good job.!
Taking it to see if it will help with neuropathy. SO far it seems to have decreased the condition which goes along with what I read about controlled medical studies on the subject.
@daringcow IT SHOULD! I take it to reduce blood sugar and it has worked miracles. Also chiropractic and pinched nerves can aide with ALA to reduce neuropathy.
@TheLovalova69 Hope you enjoy new changes we are launching within a week on healthy hot air to cover more fitness and heath and fitness product reviews along with supplements a little less food. Thank you for sharing us with everyone and I look forward to seeing you in the comments!

Hi
Anytime I take ALA after one day of taking only 100 or 200 which is very low I get ichy skin and eye burning.
I realy want to take this becouse I see result in my skin but dont know what caused this problem and I also take it with food and still not worked for me.
Can you help.
Thanks
I have Natrols 100mg, are they good ? havent started yet so I cant tell how they was yet.
call the comoany and ask if theybuse natural or lab creayed..they are not all lab created. jarrow is only natural I have found.
+hovnanian it willnsay organic or from.nature. generally you have ro call the lab and find out. numbers always on the bottle.
@Camden Smith so you mean I must call a lab before order vitamin pills on internet…LOL
Yes you must call the manufacturer because the nutrition facts ARE NOT FDA REGULATED. I have named the one I found is organic meaning NOT LAB CREATED, ingredient is taken from.nature and then ground and orocessed in the lab vs. Being created theough chemical reaction in a lab and processed (non-organic). Quite simple if you really want to know.
@Camden Smith yes if you live in usa, but I live in Europe…
Great video thank you
does this stuff restore your sense of smell
sorry but there is no alpha-lipoic acid on the market that is extracted from a natural source, it’s all lab-made. Please do some more research and see for yourself.
I appreciate your enthusiasm and I do believe in and use this supplement. However, you are NOT correct on several things you state. Firstly, there is no natural source of alpha lipoic acid that is on the market…..that I have found yet. “R” is the natural from in the body, that is true. ALA is in spinach (highest food source that I know of) and other foods but ALL the stuff sold is synthesized. When you make ALA, you get a racemic mixture(50/50 mix of both). To get pure “R”, the “S” portion is separated out but then its not stable at all unless its bonded with another atom like sodium (Na in chemistry). That means that stabilized “R” ALA that is fully bioavailable is generally sold as a sodium bonded version. Look at the quality Jarrow products to see this (product will say Na-R-Alpha Lipoic Acid). “R” is the type the body uses and that plants like spinach make and thus its the better form to consume. You see, “S” in the name S-Alpha Lipoic Acid does NOT stand for sodium as you state. R and S refer to chiral chemistry where organic molecules form identical but different molecules. Your hands are a perfect example. They are the same but one is a mirror image of the other. You cannot superimpose one hand over the other and get them to line up correctly.
Another Important fact is this. ALA only stays in the blood for 30 minutes so you must have a time release formula to get sustained benefit through the day. I have yet to see a sustained formula that is “R”, which is most commonly Na-R-Alpha Lipoic Acid.
There is so much miss information on the web. Please comb through peer reviewed studies, anecdotal forums from user experience, and read info from health experts who represent the mainstream medical system as well as the natural foods industries and herbal healers. A broad spectrum approach to your homework will result in informational videos that are accurate, which is what you need if you wish to grow your reputation as an authority on your topics.
Good luck and thanks for enthusiasm about health!!
And can’t lab-made stuff still be from natural ingredients? So what is the harm with being produced in a lab, I agree
There is no harm, I never said there was 🙂 I just wanted to shed light on a real issue: that many manufacturers claim that “their” alpha lipoic acid is all natural, all green, all veggie … that’s BS. As for how it is actual made, I remember that it is made using a protocol invented by a chemist from Japan.
What is the brand of ALA that you recommend?
Can you please name the study or location where you read the study of how ALA can reduce sugar levels for a type 1 diabetic. Thanks.
No problem with a lab producing it – they all do use manufacturing of course to create it. The issue with the chemical lab created version vs the full natural R-ALA is that your body actually takes up 20%+ less of it up meaning you’d need to take more and it is less active once taken. Someone asked for the research it’s been over a year for this video but I did find that I used a Harvard Study and Dr. Mercola as the sources if that helps.
Well it’s been so long since I did this video. I had to go back and check. I found a Harvard study outlining the benefits and the breakdown of the nutrients I always get from calorieking.com and livestrong.com as well as mercola.com. People who posted there is no R-ALA on the market ARE INCORRECT. I have no idea how thy are unaware of this lol, but here is a link to one of many you can find in addition to the Jarrow brand: http://store.wellnesspartners.com/RalaPure_c_99.html?gclid=CJ2UxObrptMCFQsRgQodKnYDVQ
So sorry for the delayed response. Had a baby last year and youtube has taken an unfortunate backset :). I use Jarrow but now they make both R and S ALA so be careful which you buy. Here are links for what I know is R-ALA: https://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-222905-jarrow-formulas-r-alpha-lipoic-acid-with-biotin-60-capsules?utm_source=googlebase,google&utm_medium=fpl,PLA&utm_term=JarrowFormulasRAlphaLipoicAcidwithBiotin60Capsules&utm_content=113478&utm_campaign=googlebase&site=google_base&scid=scplp113478&sc_intid=113478&utmp_campaign=SC_Shopping_Campaign_Mid_Margin&gclid=CJu9qI_sptMCFdgOgQodyRgOcQ and http://store.wellnesspartners.com/RalaPure_c_99.html?gclid=CJ2UxObrptMCFQsRgQodKnYDVQ
Well smell I don’t know about, generally that has to do with soft tissue damage. It won’t hurt it but no there is no evidence or research that I found on medline, harvard, yale or mercola connecting ALA with smell. Sorry
hai brian… thank you… super helpful. but what about reduced glutathione? i need more info about that… plis…
Great energy…..
Starts off the video saying Mitochondrion…
I immediately think of ‘Mother DNA’…anybody get that? Thumbs up pls if you know what I’m talking about
I use R-Lipoic acid and my neuropathy pain has decreased my 85 %. It doesn’t give me energy as you claim nor have I lost weight. Just glad my foot pain is better.
Healthy Hot Air , what he is saying is that R-ALA and S-ALA when purchased in supplement form are BOTH created in a lab. R-ALA is, as you state, the form found in nature – but even if you buy R-ALA what you are buying was made in a lab.
Also, you state that S-ALA is “sodium lipoic acid” and that is not true. The S is to denote the isomer and doesn’t stand for sodium.
NA-R-ALA is sodium lipoic acid and is a more stable form of LA supposedly. R-ALA is very unstable in its natural form.
Good video though…hard to make any video on any subject and be 100% accurate and still keep it brief and interesting.
Healthy Hot Air jarrow puts magnesium stearate in their R lipoic acid .that is a flowing agent and destroys T-cells I don’t buy any vitamins with magnesium stearate or stearic acid for that very reason do you know of another company who do not put flowing agents such as magnesium stearate or stearic acid in R lipoic acid?
Thank you. I know what type to buy now.
She’s not an organic chemist. In fact, I doubt she even took a HS chemistry class. No need to talk to her about chirality or optical isomers.
Lordy…just eat a healthy diet, and forget this hocus pocus non sense.
Will go to store tomorrow and see if i can find the pure form of ALA. Good information.
I take 600mg of the regular 50:50 R/S every day. I don’t have any allergic or similar issues.
I haven’t found the need to apply it topically.
@Camden Smith And what are the different in efficiency in body ?
@hovnanian for Diabetes Type 1 or type 2 the difference would literally be say your blood sugar was 200 and you took one unit of insulin which would only drop your blood sugar to 150, coupled with one to two of the alpha lipoic acid your blood sugar will end up at 80 within 1 hour. Now that’s a generalization, and I can make that, because I am type 1 diabetic. Alpha lipoic acid does help energize the body and the cells so I reduced fat by about 3% without additional activity but I was already working out very hard. I did not change my diet. Now that would vary from person to person because if you already have adequate pituitary, pancreatic, thyroid function then you may not need alpha lipoic acid however in general it does seem to serve a great purpose especially if you are weight lifting or do in doing any kind of high interval training. I do still take alpha lipoic acid but I’m having to take it a lot less because I have switched from heavy weight and hiit workouts, and my workout routine is entirely Focus now on heavy and light yoga Vinyasa flows along with some hiit and I run two and a half miles three times a week. So I reduce the amount of cardio I’m doing and therefore because I’m diabetic I’m not having to take alpha lipoic as much. The reason? Because as a diabetic I was having to raise my blood sugar’s over 200 in order to run plus do high intensity workouts or long aerobics more than 45 minutes and so I was working out so hard I had to have a lot of sugar on board in order to be able to burn it and continue to work out, where as a normal person doesn’t need to do that. So I only have to take alpha lipoic acid now when my blood sugar spikes for some reason and I’m reacting to a food differently than I do usually and I also take it after or before a run. It also has prevented me from feeling very exhausted because it synergizing the cells. You asked, I answered LOL. That’s just my personal experience.
Well nothing made in the lab is absolutely natural. But the S is actually genetically modified. If you call the companies they will confirm that for you. However alpha lipoic acid does help energize the cells it’s certainly not required for every single human being. We are all very different. Some of us have great thyroid function whereas others do not. I am type 1 diabetic and alpha lipoic acid, this particular type, does help drop my blood sugar when I had to spike it because I was running so much I had to spike my blood sugar really high in order to be able to do the long cardio workouts I was doing. I no longer do that type of workout I am more focused on yoga and running three times a week as opposed to doing cardio 7 days a week and I have been able to reduce my usage of alpha lipoic acid. But I can tell you for a type 1 diabetic, and I have been one for 30 years actually 33 years lol time flies, it really does truly work in helping lower the blood sugar not in lieu of insulin but coupled with. It will help reduce the insulin usage. For people with thyroid issues or pituitary issues, perhaps they aren’t diagnosed with a problem but they noticed their metabolism is becoming sluggish as they’re older, alpha lipoic acid can also help stabilize things. But as with any supplement, people have to listen to their bodies first.
Hahaha funny but informative video… Love it. But this also explains the feeling I’m having while I’m taking ala. I feel more energetic. My face is clear and clean. Mood is incredibly good and more.
@Healthy Hot Air can you send me info
Where do you buy this? I dont think I’ve ever seen R alpha linolenic acid in stores
That’s what you’re going to say about it because you sell it😭
I can see the energy level in your vide o by alpha lipoic acid 😀❤️
