I’ve been intermittent fasting for 18 months and I can honestly say it’s done wonders for me, especially with stabilising my mental health 😎
Intermittent Fasting and Keto helped me lose close to 200lbs. no lie. i was 365 two years ago, 190 lbs today.
Yes I notice that too since fasting…..clarity
@Jeffrey Kent absolutely, I’m glad it’s worked for you too 👍
I’m 57 and started Keto, OMAD and IF, over a year ago.
I worked my way up to a 36 hour Fast.
12, 18, 24, 36. I didn’t just go straight to 36. I lost and Kept Off 70 lbs..
Feel great. NO Knee Pain. I stopped taking Acid Reflux meds.
It Works.
Yeah. The mental benefits are amazing!
As a former National level Superheavy weight bodybuilder, personal trainer, health coach and Racing driving instructor……Keto, Fasting and exercising is the END ALL BE ALL FOR LIVING LONG, HEALTHY AND TO LOOK FUCKING AWESOME! When you take charge of your life you become the best version of yourself, that’s a guarantee! Good show.
I use to workout 5 days a week and was always pretty muscular. Always had a little stubborn belly fat. I stopped working out and started intermittent fasting and I’m more ripped than I ever was and still float around the same weight. Only difference is my waist has shrunk significantly. Curious to see the difference once I start working out again.
I weighed about 395lbs at the start of the year, managed to lose about 50lbs in the past six months by mostly walking about 10 miles every day. However, the progress slowed down a bit the last month or so. So, recently I turned to fasting, I eat in a period of 8 hours, then for the next 16 hours I’m fasting. It’s been only about ten days, and I already feel the difference. Mostly, now when I eat during the day I just don’t feel full, like I ate too much. It’s a good feeling to have.
Man I needed to hear this. I’m on the end of my 5th day of water ONLY fasting and I just want to keep going. My fat is melting like I’ve never seen before. It’s pretty disgusting how simple this is and I wasted so much time on misinformation to stay muscular. MAN I CANT STAND THE FU**ERY OF AMERICA
This is great info. My wife and I did a water fast for a few days and it was certainly an interesting experience.
After the first day, energy was pretty high, mental clarity was high. It’s amazing how the body adapts to whatever choices you make.
Joe should know all this. I have watched so many podcasts over the years that had all this information. And I used it. But Mark hit the nail on the head with metabolic flexibility. I was never fat but was about 30 to 40 lbs lbs over weight, had acid reflux that was destroying my esophagus. Was prediabetic with high blood pressure. My blood labs did not look very good and I was 66 at the time. Both sides of my family were diabetic with grandmother losing both legs to it. I was headed in the same direction as them. Decided to do something about it. So I started strict keto with intermittent fasting. No food for 16 hours a day. Did it for 2 years. After that time I lost 35 lbs, 6 in off my Waist, acid reflux went away in 2 weeks, my bold pressure went from 155/95 to 90/60 last visit to the doctor. No longer prediabetic and my blood labs are all normal. I’m at the weight and waist I was in my 20s. I’m doing very low carb now with min of 12-16 hours of fasting for the last 2 years. I have not lost or gained a pound in 2 years but I have put on more muscle. Not a lot but I don’t exercise other then household chores and working in my yard. My diet is mostly protein, fat then carbs in that order instead of the other way around. I test my blood and keytones a few times a week. My keytones are low but they are there. My body now recognizes both fat and carbs as fuel. I have become metabolically Flexible again.
I’m on my 5th week of only eating once a day, every week day. I eat breakfast and/or lunch on weekends. Along with this, I run more than 40 kilometers each week. I’m in my 40s and have never felt like I’ve had such consistent energy.
@Chuck Landrey you misunderstand the term “water fast”. It’s an oddly worded term. It means no food, only water. So when doing a water fast, you only drink water.
I’m so tired of people asking me how I lost weight and kept it off – I tell them about IF and also OMAD and they just say “Oh – I could never do that.” and then to back to complaining about their weight and how crappy their current fad diet is. Okay…. Female – went from 190lbs to 130lbs in 10 months and have kept it off for over 2 years. I usually do OMAD 5 days a week and eat regurlarly on vacations and weekends. It changed my metabolism. I literally cannot gain weight. I can still lose but maintaining is effortless.
Sasa buy a weight vest and walk with at least 50% of your lost weight added on the vest. You will increase tour calorie burn.
I read The Obesity Code and decided to try 16 hours fasting. It was a struggle, but 3 months later, I switched up to 20 hours. Four years later I eat OMAD and it is the best lifestyle choice I have ever made. I am amazed at how the body intuitively adjusts. I’ve since learned the body doesn’t really need all that much food. Now I mainly crave vegetables and fresh fruits. Everyone is different, but OMAD is awesome for me.
@Michael Page everyone is different but my waist got a lot smaller but I didn’t really notice losing any muscle mass. Maybe a little bit but id rather my waist be smaller and lose a little muscle mass. That’s probably because I wasn’t eating enough in that window. You can eat whatever you want in that window so just get your calories in and you should be alright
I’m on day 7 of intermittent water fast (1 broth based meal a day) and my knee has healed itself .. it’s been years of pain. My bloated belly has disappeared .. and I have 50%more drive at the gym. Not into diets but I’m very into fasting.
Great job Sasa!!
@rattrap 88 8 months after this post, I’m down to 286 pounds 👌
This podcast changed my life, Went from 265lbs o 220 and still going down. Ket let me change my diet painless and effortless with no hunger.
I’ve water fasted on different occasions for 7 days, 14 days and 32 days Gods blessing. The health benefits by far out weighed the negative effects… I also have more fuel “stored” so it was easier for me. I’m going to get ready for a 40 day fast Lord willing!
I dropped 30 pounds with a program of fasting. I dove in for a 24 hour fast once a week, and incorporated a 7 mile fat burning hole halfway into each of those fasting periods. I stopped eating after 9pm, then transitioned into a 2MAD with (hopefully) 12 hour IF between meals. I played with extending those 24 hour fasts until I was able to fast 48 hours once a month, later one a quarter. Now I periodically fast for 36 hours at a time, all of those taking the place of one of my 24 hour fasts. The only real conscientious change I made to my diet was removing soda and eating far less cookies, cake and ice cream as desserts.
Now water fast 18 hours a day., Then 20
I intermittent fasted for about 3 months ish. I got great results. I just ate normally, except for Friday. Friday, I would eat b fast and lunch, then wait 24 hours and eat again Saturday at lunch. I went from 260 lbs down to 200-210. I believe there is a reset for real. I eat normal, no fasting anymore and eat whatever I want. I’m still between 200-210 lbs. I stopped fasting around 6 months ago. It’s like I have a super boosted metabolism. It’s all about insulin resistance.
Thanks.!
Me too. My main meal is brunch which is when I feel hungry.
I’ve fasted probably more than most people. I always laugh when people freak out over missing a meal. Oh Lordy.
Nice.
Yes Joe does know this, but he is a good interviewer. So if this is your first viewing on this topic then you get the info. Joe will ask questions even if he already knows the answer so the listeners or viewers will hear the answer. I have seen episodes where Joe will say “I know the answer, but tell the listeners the answer”.
Were you on BP medicines?
That’s great guys and if you want to really fat burn, try walking easier on the body too. Mix on 1 or 2 hard sprints for like 30 secs full speed. I was a runner for years.
@B Ce have yoy seen the bullet coffee strategy? You can have it in the morning and still be fasting
I became metabolically flexible after ditching pasta, bread, rice and sweets. It took me about two to three weeks and I was just eating fatty cuts of meat, veggies sautéed in ghee, butter or lard. Eggs and bacon for breakfast. Full fat greek yogurt.
I lost my craving for junk food and I was 50/50 lean, but metabolically a mess, getting hangry 😫 and having to eat immediately or I would freak out.
Now I can be hungry and I don’t feel bad at all. I am 56 and work production and I have a lot of energy.
All my blood numbers are excellent HDL 60 triglycerides 89 and the LDL the doctor looks at to write statin prescription is high but I did my homework and educated the kind doctor about LDL cholesterol. The most doctors are brainwashed and have not done any research on the harmful SAD diet. I am shocked that they don’t promote nutrition. They focus on the drugs for BP and diabetes but not healing a human. I get it. It’s what they studied for a decade.
Their methods obviously are not working.
And most people are in denial about their eating habits. It’s almost impossible to school anyone on the proper diet.
@Charlie Ramble-On The man literally said, “a week? you’ll be dead”. He thinks fasting for a week will kill someone… so I think it’s safe to say you’re being far too gracious in assuming he already knows everything about this topic.
@Gawd SZN he ded R.I.P
@zxzx 🤣💀
@Bic Gohill Walking might burn as many calories as running, when distance is equal, but I’ve never heard anyone claim it burns more. It’s definitely more sustainable as you get older, though.
As opposed to every other country? All of which are less muscular, and only less fat because they can’t afford to eat as much?
@Real Deal thanks for the great info and congrats — what would you recommend to someone whos been doing IF for 14-16 hours a day (i feel hungry at the 16 hour mark and break my fast). i eat eggs as the first meal with greeens, but the other two meals i have contain a decent amount of carbs (whats the guide to leaving the classic carbs). i workout for an hour in the morning so thats why my hunger kicks in around 4-8 hours within the start of my day
cheers
Do u think it will cure my seizures
@Tracey Marshall I have NO idea. Consult your Doctor.
Your one or two meals, are they low carb or normal?
I’m not sure if I understand correctly; can you build up metabolic flexibility by intermittent fasting even if your one or two meals are normal or high carb??
Hey kickn you seem pretty knowledgeable about health. I’m trying to start a podcast talking to different people and the health issues they are going through also on their philosophy to living a healthy lifestyle. Trying to formulate an objective view. Let me know if you want to do a 30 minute podcast
@Rational Thought most countries arent telling there people to eat 6 servings of whole grains a day
Same here !!!
I thought you get energy from food
@Rudy Behrens sometimes when you are addicted to eating (especially foods that are not right for you) it can do the opposite and deplete your energy. Intermittent fasting isn’t just ‘not eating’. It’s simply allowing your body to have a break and reset.
@Rudy Behrens you’ve misinterpreted.. intermittent fasting isn’t constantly fasting. Look into it. Maybe not your thing. It’s helped me loads. Particularly with my mental approach to food. Having extreme or a cookie cutter approach (one size fits all) isn’t really how it works 🌱 it’s been 5 months now since I wrote that comment and I’m still pain free first time in 4 years🌱
@Rudy Behrens I just choose ‘broths’ to break the fasts rather than just eat whatever food is there . Part of the point is to reset your body to stop behaving so addictively. For me it worked. For some it might not 🤷🏼♀️
@MrFuchew *Their. Also pasta is life.
As a physician who treats obesity, its almost comical that I have come to the EXACT same conclusion and have seen intermittent fasting work really well. Fasting has helped folks loose weight, lower blood pressure, and often cure diabetes type 2 altogether. Limiting factor is patient buy in and some trust that fasting will work. Metabolic adjustment needs time, 2-4 weeks often. The obsession with having small frequent meals is unfortunate and its killing a whole generation of Americans. One thing not mentioned here is daily consumption of liquid food (milk, fresh fruit juice, mayonnaise, cane sugared coffee/tea, ranch dressing, beer, wine) are also harmful to consume at more than 3-4 servings a week. Liquid foods are energy dense and delay fasting state onset. Liquid food also illicit strong demand of insulin, which over time, burns out the pancreas. Just another factor likely contributing to increase in diabetes rates.
The entire food and farming industry is so deeply inbeded with support for the S.A.D. There’s so much money invested into way Americans eat. And the medical industry profits from the harm.
@kev mc yeah I’ll drink black coffee. If you drink energy drinks it’ll break your fast
Yeah I do the same and it changes my life. I’m just some joe blow that did it out of no where. And Joe thinks you’ll die after 2 weeks. What a joke
A couple of years ago I read a great little book on natural healing called ‘My Physician, Myself’, written by an older man who cured himself of a number of maladies without medical intervention. It’s available on Amazon and well worth the read. You might also look into the work of Luigi Cornaro, a Venetian nobleman who lived to 102.
@Carmen Almonti yes I have got an elk tag and two deer tags to fill this season and I’m very excited, in my opinion, there is no better meat than elk.
@B Alexander mostly water. I farm and work in the field a lot so I drink quite a bit of water. I do make an exception every once in awhile and drink a glass of orange juice if I’m feeling like I need a bit of a boost.
Wow!! Congratulations!!
*e not sure how one “stablishes” something
I eat the majority of my calories in a 4-6 hour window typically, 8 at most, whether it is keto or not. The body adapts. I have even fasted on nothing but water for 3 weeks at a time.

@Carlos Santana Yes. I started some 30 years ago. It wasn’t with intent. It’s something I simply fell into. I’ve been medical free my whole life. Other than getting my wisdom teeth removed and having elective Lasik eye surgery to correct my vision. When I travel or go on vacation, I eat breakfast and dinner. Once I return home, it’s back to one meal a day. Always stay hydrated. On occasion, I will mix in a protein bar or shake. That comes and goes with the level of activity at the time. I very rarely eat junk food or soda. But I don’t wholly obtain from it. I simply never buy any of it when food shopping. There are many food aisles I haven’t been down in a very, very long time.
What’s OMAD please?
@Jeremy S. I actually looked it up and couldn’t find anyone on the entire internet who agrees that it’s impossible to be in ketosis on a keto diet… literally no one.
@50 Shades of Skittles one meal per day
@P LITTY The question is if people are actually on a real Keto diet. I am not someone who thinks people necessarily SHOULD BE on a keto diet. But many people think high protein low carb = keto.
Steaks taste so much better after a hard days work
Well done bro
@50 Shades of Skittles if you’re new to this kinda thing I recommend Rhonda Patrick’s JRE as well. She goes into the nitty gritty on IF. GSP also talked about doing OMAD I believe
Great post. I was checking continuously this blog and I’m impressed! Extremely helpful info particularly the last part I care for such information a lot. I was seeking this particular info for a very long time. Thank you and best of luck.
