I went on a fasting diet for a year and I lost 85 pounds. I was 305 pounds and now I’m at 220
The thing I’ve realized since drastically reducing my carb intake is that my body adjusted, and now when I eat a lot of carbs I feel much hungrier the next day. Sticking to veggies, a bit of fruit and mostly good proteins and fats has pretty much changed my life. Started out at 246 and been 170-174 for the past year now.
When i was in college i fasted a lot, the biggest benefit i noticed was a 22% increase in ability to pay tuition
When i got to university, I literally had no time to eat so i was fasting all day. only had 1 meal a day and lost around 15kg which was unbelievably crazy since i was working out for 2 years but never lost anything as big.
But quarantine killed it, and im gaining more which pushes me to fast more.
I reverse fast. I eat for 22 hours and fast for 2. Other than the debilitating weight gain, I feel fantastic.

I will say, we have been doing IF for a bit now and it’s so nice to not be a slave to food. I eat but I’m not a slave to my cravings or hunger pangs. I love that I don’t have to use brain space thinking about food all day. No food from 7PM- 11AM. It’s honestly not as hard as we thought it would be. ❤️
Just did a 42 hour fast and I feel amazing. Fairly new to it but I plan on doing it again in a few weeks. Just consumed water with sea salt and supplement magnesium and potassium helped with the lack of electrolytes and trace minerals.
I lost 41 lbs in 2 1/2 months using intermittent fasting, dropped from 216lbs to 175lbs. When I hit my 175 mark, I ate a medium pepperoni & sausage pizza & drank a 2-liter of coke by myself. The next day, I didn’t even gain a 1/4 lb. And no, didn’t even poop(in case you were wondering 😘). Intermittent fasting works, you just need discipline. I used flexible measuring tape as well as weighing myself once a week. Had it down to a science, meaning I knew exactly how many calories I was burning in my sleep. Usually did 10 hour fasts, that’s not including sleep time. Only ate in the morning after my workout, didn’t eat anything prior to the workout. Really need someone with the same drive to do this with, miss my homies back home ❤️
I am on day 5 of 7 of a water fast to lose weight. My biggest take away so far is knowing that moving forward.. i don’t have to eat all the time. Hunger is only temporary. It goes away muchhhh faster than you’d think. At least for me. Everyone maybe different. I also feel like I have more energy and I feel this is the most focused I’ve been in years.

I went about 6 months with intermittent fasting with walking for about 1.5 hours a day (to and back from college) and had lost about 22kilos. Totally shocked when I weighed myself I had no idea what I did to lose this weight. All I did was:
-Cut out junk food (the unnecessary sugars)
-Walk every day
-16hrs intermittent fasting (skip breakfast)
It works. Seriously. Control your hormones and you will go places you’ve never been.
16 hour fast is honestly fantastic . I always felt uncomfortable and had stomachs pains waiting 3 meals a day ( same calorie intake ) . Now I just feel like me all the time .
Wow. I’ve been eating one meal a day all my life, practically. I never called it fasting. My mother called it “dangerous”. I’m 68 now and have zero health problems and still have tons of energy.

Did you gain any of it back? I worked out like crazy and dropped 50 pounds 5 years ago and I’m right back to where I was.
I eat once a day. I don’t feel hunger during the day. No one around me understands it. Everyone hassles me about it. I totally understand this guy. The spike mid day nap from lunch, is exactly about the insulin spike.
I did an 18 hr fast today and felt amazing. Consistent energy and mental awareness
Fasting + low carb + light exercise at 47 took me from 290 lbs (6ft 5in) to 262 in 2 months. I am 47 but felt 67 as I felt pain in most of my joints. My back would be stiff and painful after a 20 min car ride. My foot had a pain when I walked that would never get better……TODAY ALL GONE! I’m eating one low to no carb meal a day until I reach my goal of 225 lbs. Fasting has for me been the miracle everyone wished existed. I’m feeling great now. I can’t wait to reach my target weight I have not seen sense high school. I plan to do 18-6eating window eating two low carb meals a day once my goal is reached.

Totally believe in this. I’ve never eaten three meals per day as an adult. Always felt it’s a social construct based on marketing. So much of our eating habits are programmed.

@Jj Sweg I can only speak for myself. I don’t at 2000 calories at one meal. I eat about 700-800. A big dinner.
I’ve been in Ketosis for a year. I eat once a day with a snack later in the day on occasion. I just fasted for 72 hours very easily. The third day I was in a wonderful mood. I highly recommend intermittent fasting.

In American culture at least (and I’m sure in other countries as well) a lot of our social bonds and social expectations are wrapped up in what and how often we eat. When I started fasting all day until 6 p.m. then trying to eat mostly real, unprocessed food with very little sugar, my chronic migraines disappeared almost entirely and I started losing weight very quickly even though I pig out at night. Despite the obvious health benefits, my mom has not stopped being shitty about this lifestyle change because she sees food and dessert as a way to bond as a family whenever we get together for holidays or any other event. She ignores the fact that it’s helped my migraines and slight weight problem. She sees it as a personal affront that I don’t want pie or cupcakes.

I’m just curious to see how it worked for you since you were able to drop weight significantly. Personally I am not looking to make as much of a change but I want to see if it will spare my muscle gains and burn mostly fat

You have to do it long enough to allow you’re body to become fat adapted so that even when you eat carbs you’re body can go from using Ketones to carbs, but you need to eliminate sugar period.
I fast everyday, very similar to this guy. I lost 100lbs in 2 years, and feel amazing.
I started eating between 12 and 6 pm only… Lost 12 lbs in a week. Not joke lost a pound a day and felt great

You need to live longer. I know over 20 people that do this. Some for health, some for weight loss, some because they smoke weed, some because they don’t have enough time..

@Matt C I don’t doubt it. Some people do just fine. My brother in law eats 3 squares and then some and he’s healthy and not an ounce overweight. I think the reasoning here is, we’ve been taught that 3 meals a day is the standard, when in fact, there is no standard. Every body is different and people can adjust to feast or famine.
