I agree with her 100% about dealing with keto not just loose weight. Each nutritions could change for better to us not just for me.
I did a keto-based plan created by doctors. My saturated fats went down actually because it recommended very little fat and they were healthy fats to help you stay satiated but more like 2 tablespoons a day. You could eat a lot of vegetables but you had to stay away from starchy ones but you could eat 1/4 cup or 1/3 cup or 1/2 cup per day. And then the really good vegetables you could eat a lot of. Fruits were off on the menu. Some low fat meat portion sized at 4-5 oz a day was allowed and making sure your proteins were at the right level. I never in 1 million years have lost weight strictly from watching what I ate. I would definitely gain weight if I ate wrong but never lose it. And then combining it with exercise really helped. All told I lost about 55 pounds but then I plateaued.
Clean keto is very good. I wish I can stay on clean keto all the time. I am becon, ghee, and animal fat alot. It’s not that healthy. I will reduce sat fat from now on. Avocado now.
26 pounds down in 4 weeks on Keto, but you gotta take a lot of supplements and make sure to drink lemon water to prevent kidney stones. You’ll know when your it burns to pee lol
As an epileptic and a volunteer for the epilepsy foundation there’s a big difference between the regular keto diet and the one used for epilepsy and other medical conditions. Do not put them in the same category. If u aren’t careful with this diet u can end up with ketoacidosis which can be fatal so any diet needs medical supervision
So they did clarify on this, but I do feel that it’s essential that people understand the term. A pescatarian diet is when you only allow fish into the diet, but no other meats. The reason why they only choose fish (and I’m thinking its only certain fish) is because certain fish are way better for your overall health than say beef, steak or even porkchops. The only downside to this is the fact that fish in general is going to be more expensive and that’s why only certain people will go this direction since their budget works within this diet range.
I started on the sustainable KETO diet to heal my depression about a year ago. Unlike psychotropic medications with possible side effects such as dizziness, nausea, constipation, spontaneous combustion, temporary blindness, suicidal thought, walking around in brightly colored work-out clothing with a clipboard in your hand and high-fiving everyone you see for no discernible reason (at least that’s what you see in a lot of prescription drug TV commercials) the only side effects I experience from the a full day of eating under the Carnivore KETO plan is an occasional case of the Meat Sweats. For example, I’m proud to say that for breakfast I had four strips of bacon, a couple of breakfast sausage patties, four eggs (2 over easy and 2 poached), a small skirt steak (medium rare), a protein shake, some avocado on toast and and just a soupcon of scrapple – all washed down with a nice bubbly ice cold Diet Cola. . At lunchtime, I got a can of corned beef hash from the pantry which went right into the frying pan with some chopped onions and ketchup for seasoning, and a fried egg on top. Some Beef and Barley Soup went right well with that. For dinner, it’s gonna be 10 oz. of 93/7 steak tartare with an egg on top, , some thinly sliced potatoes and heirloom tomatoes pan roasted in extra virgin olive oil.. Yeah, I’m cheating a bit with “taters and maters” – but you gotta have at least SOME carbs everyday and if you don’t eat any vegetables you run the risk of scurvy. I’m also proud to say that when I weighed myself right after lunchtime, I discovered that I’m halfway to my goal of shedding another 10 lbs. to get to my target weight of 150 and my BMI is a healthy 18.2. . Wish me luck everybody!! – and have a nice protein packed weekend!. If the weather’s nice where you are, fire up that charcoal or get that propane burning and get some protein on that grill!!
Very effective . Improves health . Not just weight lose .
Not for everyone a true Ketotarian is NOT a bunless burger from Wendy’s and a fatty coffee every day. Let’s be real about Keto
Everybody’s different. So keto is sustainable for some people, but not for everyone. I hear from people who say that even after “quitting” keto they go back to it, just to reset after they find themselves slipping back into carb addiction.
I like all fruit and veggis but not all meats and especially not fatty meats or cheese, but why cant we incorporate best elements of both Mediterranean and Keto diet and call it Mediketo. To me thats a much healthier, more sustainable version. Its what I call eating good yet healthy. All in moderation
“Give me a Double Whooper combo king size please.” Sitting in the parking lot eating it. You finish it, you leave, you see a Taco Bell. “I will have a grilled stuffed burrito, a 7-layer burrito and a churro”. You sit in the parking lot and eat it. You leave. Oh, the car needs gas, you pull into a station and while filling up you decide you will go in and get a drink, you come out with a hotdog. You eat it. This is all within an hour. After all this you still feel hungry! This was me. Sadly, to say it just was not a “once in a while” occurrence. It was on a regular basis. Till one day I stepped on the scale and the number broke me down. That day it really hit me, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 344lbs!! I was dying. No if ands or buts, I WAS DYING!! Or should I say, “I WAS KILLING MYSELF”!!! Do not get me wrong, I was not in denial about being overweight, Fat, Obese, Morbidly Obese, whatever term you want to give it I knew that is what I was. The biggest problem was, I had “Accepted” that, this is who I was. Self-acceptance, the gateway to bliss and utter happiness. Well that day I finally myself. I “Accepted” that I was Morbidly obese and dying. I accepted that I was causing my wonderful wife so much stress and worry that she would be left without a husband. I accepted that accepting myself as I was, was unacceptable!! So next day I started a diet, 16 months later I was 128lbs lighter and healthy, wealth and wise! SO EASY!!! NOT!! But a big understanding for folks who do not understand the compulsion to eat and the power it has have this train of thought. That all you need to do is stop eating so much exercise and all is good. Sounds easy but not so. This eating compulsion I have is the same as the compulsion a Drug/alcohol addict has. And to fight it, I had to find the cause, why did I have it? And that was the first step. It took a while to figure it out. It was last thing I would expect. FEAR. When I felt hunger, I got scared. Let me explain. I grew up very poor, homeless and went hungry a lot. Not just missing a meal here and there but I am talking about days at a time. And when I had access to food I ate, and ate, and ate afraid of when the next meal would be. And that fear followed me through life. How did I figure it out? I fasted for 24 hours, and “analyzed” what was going on. Did I feel hungry? Yes. Was I physically affected? Yes. SO, what was going on? I knew it did not take $50 worth of fast food at a time to stop me from being hungry, so what? Then my wife asked me an epiphany of a question. “Why are you scared?” Huh? What? From her perspective I was acting like I was afraid of something. I realized I was feeling the old childhood fear of not knowing when I would eat again. I had gotten so used to acting on it, it became a subconscious behavior. So, with this new insight, I started looking for “Diets”. I tried Weight watchers, lost some weight but constantly hungry, weight came back. Tried Atkins, lost weight but caused me issues with digestion and kidneys. Weight came back. Went to nutritionist. Sat down at desk with them and first thing they did was open google and search for low Cal/fat diet and exercise plan. Really? Paying someone to Google for me. Finally I realized that in all things I go to God but for some reason I never went to him with it, well once in a while it would come up in prayer but not really giving it to him. I finally did. I gave it to him. Then started looking for some info on how the body uses/stores fat I found a video of a body builder who used Keto to cut. SO, I figured what the hay! Came up with a simple week’s menu with the correct ratios and went for it. Lost 15lbs first 3 weeks. I would like to say it was a downhill road from there, but it was not. But I researched more and more, adjusted it to me, added Intermittent and EXtended fasting Lost another 50lbs in the following 6 months. Then stalled. For months. 3 in fact. Same diet, same food, same exercise. Started having digestion issues. Did more research. That is when I found a video of a Doctor talking talking about veggies. So, figured what the Hay, give it a week, worse that could happen is I gain a few lbs. Added way more dark greens and occasional berries and stall broke. In the following 7 months I dropped another 68lbs. So in just under 16 months I dropped 133lbs. Was it easy? NO!! Am I finished? Nope got 35lbs to go. But the sacrifices made do not come close to the gains. I am better able to serve the LORD in his Church. I am finally able to be a better Husband and serve my wife as the LORD commands, I even started a YouTube channel sharing some of my favorite recipes. The journey has just begun but, the elevation is starting to level out. I know the LORD has plans for me and this part is done. Now I am up to the physical aspects of it and ready to take the rest whatever it may be head on.
i subscribed because of her answer about keto!
no no not at all…you are incorrect.
only gotta worry about this if you are diabetic or have serious healthy issues
it is sustainable as longa s you do not go back to huge amounts of carbs…it has helped a lot of folk get off of diabetes meds, it lowers your blood pressure…our standard american diet is killing us….keto , but dont overdo your sat fats can be the most healthful thing to do for yourself
Kudos to GMA for the first actually science based answer on the Keto question. The good doctor fumbled on the “bad cholesterol” point, but as statins are the most lucrative drug in history, its going to take time for people to realize there’s no science against high LDL… even though the Sydney study and the Minnesota Heart Experiment study showed it isn’t the bogey man its made out to be.
Started keto a month ago. I’ve lost 6.5 lbs so far. My mental health has improved also. The keto diet is the best diet I’ve ever been on.
If you ask me, the keto diet is not for most people. It’s just really difficult to follow and you feel exhausted. But the Agoge diet on the other hand feels great, and it works too.
You feel exhausted while going in to ketosis but no while in it, I can attest to that.

If you can stick with it more than a week you will find you feel better and have more energy than you’ve ever had.
Excellent answer. Not what I expected.
Is not that much
I’ve been doing keto for 16 weeks and I’ve lost 68 pounds so for I’ve got 45 more to go. Keto is the best deit I’ve been on. It’s not a starvation diet. I eat till I’m not hungry anymore. I don’t over eat like I use to but I do not snack. My brother has been on keto for 7 months he lost 80 pounds but he does snake quite often. I also do the intermittent fasting also.
You will definitely get a heart attack
You will never. I will repeat you will never get into keto acidosis unless you are diabetic type 1, it’s impossible even if you try hard.
I find it very very easy to follow.
@Apollo yea they can just go vegetarian and pay through the roof paying for supplements and popping fish pills all day OR they could just eat fish that are already extremely high in omegas and protein while also being super low in calories compared to other meats..
@Apollo I mean everything comes with a price right. Let’s not pretend we live in a perfect world where everything works in our favor without a trade off of some kind..
@Apollo well my point is that fish are a lean, low calorie and highly satiating source of protein. Also they take on different spices and flavors very well so you can get pretty creative with the way you choose to cook them. Seeing as both chicken breast and beef average over 1,000 calories a lb, it’d be a healthier choice to go for some tilapia or catfish instead that sit around only 600 calories per lb. In addition they are packed with nutrients and vitamins, there’s a lot of benefits to eating a pescatarian diet including variety and nutrition.
@Apollo that’s actually a really good point you brought up about the difference between health conscious people like us and people who don’t actually know about these things just due to being uninformed. I agree with you on some things and really good point about finances and nutritional knowledge. I guess there’s really a lot of factors that determine why someone would feel inclined, repulsed or indifferent to trying a pescatarian diet. My reasoning was mostly because of the nutrition and calorie count and also that I like to get my protein from meat (which is why I can’t will myself into going vegetarian) but I’m sure there are a lot people follow the diet just because they really like fish or just prefer it over other meats.
there is absolutely zero requirements for fiber, carbs, or sugar in the human diet. There is no such thing as good or bad cholesterol…. there is only one cholesterol. Saturated fat is not bad and there is no reason to avoid it if following the only optimal human diet which is carnivore.
How is it difficult? It’s just tasty fats and meats. Probably the simplest diet I’ve ever tried.
Wow! Thank you so much for this! That is amazing!
6 months from now they’re going to say it’s the worst thing you can do to your body
