I’m curious about advice to avoid twisting, as I have also seen advice that some twisting in yoga is good when you have tension and stiffness in the back. Is twisting okay when you’re stretching in a controlled way, lying on your back, but not good when you’re on your knees, etc.?
This is a great reminder. The twisting is a tough one working with two large items and transfers.
What about lifting those heavy objects and moving them? Like lifting hte large bage of soil to dump in a pot, then also moving the pot?

For lifting you still want to hip hinge, and then keep the object close to your body.
The key is “in a controlled” way. For example, when doing knee twists on the floor, it is a lot more controlled, and you’re letting the gravity of knees to twist and you can control how much etc… so as a whole, we’d say it’s less dangerous than picking a weight and twisting with it.
