Fat Burning Anti Aging Kitchen
Have you heard about ALA? I've been using it for years in my practice. Great research: Weight loss, cellular energy, disease prevention, eye health, prevents cognitive decline, protects skin and is a heavy metal chelator.
THERE IS A CAUTION YOU MUST KNOW IN TAKING THIS SUPPLEMENT. Please watch.

When I took ALA before, I tried using R-ALA by itself, or, as one dosage for the day with one dosage of (non R-) ALA; and, I tried taking the cheaper, higher dosages of ALA twice a day, and, found I had much more benefit from two higher dosages. The R-ALA did not do anything much noticeable, unless I also took as high a dosage as the just ALA, and, then, it didn’t seem to be doing it any better; it just cost me a lot more.
So, this time around, I just went and bought ALA.
I will say that I did find it worked better on an empty stomach. I couldn’t remember what the rule was. I remembered only that there was something I was told to do that made it work better. So, thank you for making this vid. It’s been a wonderful refresher for me.
Arletta, thank you for this insight. I usually give my patients 600 mg of the mixed isomer twice a day. It’s worked well. I haven’t tried the pure R. Because of your observation, I may start having them take on,an empty stomach. Thanks again.
Thanks, very informative.
I haven’t noticed benefits yet, but
1. it’s only been a week so far,
2. I’ve only been taking 1-a-day,
3. of the S-ALA instead of the R-ALA.
From all of the great testimonials I’ve seen on it lately, I believe it probably is good for me to take a chance on.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for viewing!
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST IN YOUR SYSTEM AFTER BEING TAKEN.
I used to rave about the product Minus—10. It’s 300mg per serving od ALA and my energy levels increased dramatically but it also contains Biotin. In my twenty it was all glowy, radiant skin. But in my 30s I tried taking it again and the Biotin broke me out. I’m really hoping to find another stable form of ALA, as it gave me undeniable results. Wonderful video!
The brand I use, Protocol, does not contain biotin. 🙂 You can order it at a discount through my dispensary. The link is in the description. Thanks so much for watching. lindy
I just subscribed, excited about learning from you. I had already started looking into alpha lipoic acid since I am diabetic.
What’s the difference in the S and the R ALA? Thanks! ☺
So it didnt help your memory or what ? 😀

Annette, I’m so happy you are here! Grace and peace, lindy
Great info! What are your thoughts on a time released ALA taken twice daily?
Do u remember now?
Hey Mark, I don’t use time released formula in my practice, but it sounds like it may have efficacy. I do have patients take it twice to 3 times a day.
To be honest, most supplements are mixture of R-ALA and S-ALA, i took 600mg with food and my stomach was burning and my energy was drained, although i had a good Night sleep but no energy the following day.
I have found that it REALLY helps with a rash i get on my face! seems to slowly be helping the eczema too:)
I heard that it helps with this. . .so happy for you! lindy
My Dr just recommended ALA. Thanks for the more in-depth review of it. And yes you are gorgeous. ❤🔥
I have noticed a significant difference. Have been on it fr a year now. If u consume it daily 300-600mg racemic mixture (R+S):
1. Anti-ageing benefits.
2. Insulin resistance curbed.
3. Weight loss. Faster weight loss when clubbed with exercise.
4. Normalised menstrual disturbance (regularity)
5. Improved visual disturbances.
6. Reduced episodes of migraine.
7. Improved skin texture.
Disclaimer: these are the different ways ALA helped me. I don’t mean to say it has to work the same way for everyone. There might not be directly linked evidences/research journals to back this up. But let’s face it, it’s a potent antioxidant. It reverses all the bad stuff going on.
Hope this helps. ❤️
Thankyou ma’am for sharing this with us.
Does it work for wrinkles under eyes? Have you noticed that ?
@Emine Gözde as you can see from the list, ALA works in a broad and holistic manner. Also, to see results one has to take it for a longer period of time.
Now for your concern, if you are aiming for targeted results,
I would suggest
incorporating an ala infused moisturizer (stay clear of fragrances), use ceremides, stay hydrated, and use sunscreen.
Don’t over use ALA. As it’s an exfoliating acid; and skin around your eyes are very delicate.
I would also strongly encourage you to consult your dermatologist to assess what your skin needs.
Hope that helps.
I have been taking ALA for 2 years to treat my hip injury (FAI) as recomended by my Orthopaedic. It did help the hip injury pain. However I do experience bouts of dizziness and when it happens i need to lie down on bed for a day. My short eye sighted did improve. Taking 600mg. Non R.
I feel dizzy taking it too lol
Love this product , I got more energy and my skin is looking better.
All I know is that I ordered Super Cortisol Support from Amazon and they sent me Alpha Lipoic Acid. Ironically, the return date had passed and I just opened the package yesterday, and it would seem that this product is more of what I need in the first place.
@Lindy Ford Nutrition & Wellness I have been using since two weeks ago, and it helps a lot of my (suspected damage nerve) in my hand, the tingling and burning sensation gradually subsided. I have been taking turmeric bioperin and ceylon cinnamon for the last two years capsule as well.
I started taking ala for neuropathy based on some other videos that I had watched and I really feel like it’s helping me. This is the first video that I have seen any mention of possible hair loss associated with taking ala. I am not experiencing this at present but is there any reason to take a Biotin supplement just in case? Such as possibly negatively affecting the efficacy of the Ala?
I have neuropathy , three pinch nerves and permanent nerve damage from a accident. Have sugar problems and numbing and burning in my head . Doctors just want to give me steroids and pain meds. I am highly allergic to a lot of meds , so that was not an option. I read about ala and started taking three to five hundred mg a day . It’s been about three weeks and I have notice a great reduction in the burning behind my right eye and in my head . Also more circulation on my left side. A lot more energy and I am so excited. I haven’t felt this much clarity in my mind or even felt like doing much of anything. I am 71 years old , and I feel like there is finally some hope . I also take b complex, d and c’s . But I’ve been taking those for quite some time. Please try ala or at least look into it . I did .
Great for nerve pain!!
Yes! Thanks for being here, John.
@Lindy Ford Nutrition & Wellness I would say 1,200 mg per day is equal to 10mg THC, without the side effects .
Nice thanks …shear me .more dear .I think to buy this im40 its good for me
Which Brand do you use?
I did discover this just recently and I am taking only for one week -I noticed the result almost immediately! But , I am taking thyroid med. each morning and my concern if it safe to take both? Please, clarify!
Laura Dessert – if you have noticed results after taking ALA for one week, you’re probably experiencing the placebo effect.
What beneficial effects are you noticing by the way? Nerves take a long time to regenerate, ALA has minimal effect on blood sugar and certainly didn’t give me more energy.
ALA has been around for over thirty years folks, if it was a miracle drug, people would know it by now.
reethu vincy – sheer baloney…..
@Madben 99 less nerve pain, more energy.I don’t think it is placebo effect because I know my body very well. In 2-4 days the nerve pain became less.
Thank you for your comments! I have experienced those benefits as well. There’s no need to do the racemic mix any more! The natural R form is now stabilized! PLEASE WATCH this newer ALA vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CWVV1ezjnY&t=350s
@Madben 99 Yes it did…gave energy to be rude…
Been taking it for four years for nerve pain from a hip replacement. It allows me to hurt less as far as your above claims I haven’t noticed them but who knows I might get carded again at the club.
Bought a bottle at HEB yesterday and took first 600mg dose this morning. Had a lot of energy during the day, and before going to bed, I realized I hadn’t had a headache all day for the first time in months and months. If that’s the only benefit I get out of it, it will be a daily supplement for life.
I am going to try it
Thank you so much for your super positivity! This video is so important. I am trying to decide which ala to buy. Thank you for very detailed explanation about the benefits. I am super excited to try it. I’ve read that it should help with headaches/migraines if taken 200mg 3 times a day. I’ve learned a lot from your video. Massive thank you!!
I realize this video was posted 4 years ago, but I have to share my experience with ALA. I started looking for something to help me with peripheral neuropathy I am experiencing in my feet, as a result of type 2 diabetes. After watching a lot of videos on the subject I come to the conclusion that Alpha Lipoic Acid would be something I should try. I could find very little downside and a lot of potential benefits from taking it. I started taking 600 mg a day of 50/50 of R-ALA / S-ALA supplemented with B-1 and Biotin. Almost immediately I found my blood sugar stabilized and over the next 6 weeks I have had to decrease my insulin twice. My A1c reading came down from 6.5 to 6.0 and is still going lower. As far as the neuropathy goes I can see some improvement but I realize it took a few years to develop so it could take quite awhile to see great improvement. I notice my skin is much softer, almost silky feeling. I am 69 years old and am feeling better than I have in a long time. I take this supplement usually 4-6 am on empty stomach with a vitamin B12 tablet and go back to sleep for awhile more. I am personally sold on taking ALA and will continue to take. Both my personal physician and my diabetic counsellor are both very impressed with my results so far. Hopefully my experience will give others some help on whether it could be of benefit to them.
May I ask which brand of ALA you’re taking ? Greatly appreciated 🙏
