I’m 74, I had to have surgery on February 13 to repair my aorta. I was in the hospital only overnight. I had to eat 3 meals in the hospital, but they were high carb. My fasting BS was in the mid 80’s before the surgery, but now, 10 days later my fasting morning readings have been over 100. This morning it was 98. Somehow this surgery has messed up my BS. I’m praying that it returns back to the mid 80’s before very much longer.
Thank you, Dennis. Your channel helped me so much. I’m on my third year now with a 5.5 A1C. I can enjoy a once in a while candy bar.
Those holy words are cherry on the cake Amen
Good luck!
Put another notch in your belt, Dennis. Just had my first follow up visit with my care provider since being diagnosed with Type II diabetes at Thanksgiving time. A1c dropped from 6.9 down to 5.4, triglycerides dropped 200 points, lost 26 lbs. I am a happy camper!
As always, Thank you for your time Dennis. This was a much needed reminder. God bless 🙂
Excellent!!! So well said!!! 🎉
Thanks for the warning, Dennis. I’ve been gaining some weight also – glad it’s not just me. I do all 4 things you suggest and am enjoying the victory. I’ve got a few years on you and still going strong with A1c in the 5’s. I’ve now started to cut back on calories also. Lutzer said, “One good thing about old age: it doesn’t last long!” – Good news, serving Jesus pays eternal rewards.
Omg, this was such a blessing of a reminder, its so easy to forget to not stay on course, will make this video my morning ritual, many blessings Doc 🙏🙏
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16.
Wow mind blowing thankyou this is very helpful
Perfect video
Blessings
Thank you Dennis ❤
Hello Dennis, I watch all your diabetes-related videos as soon as they come out, as much for moral support as for information. This is my favourite so far. I am old (81) and not in very good health. I have been eating vlc since 2018, trying to control my bg. I am down to 10 net carbs a day and still I can’t get my bg as low as I would like, but I don’t doubt it is much better than if I was still eating the low fat high fruit Mediterranean diet that brought me to pre-diabetes in 2017. Long ago, I read a famous weight-loss diet book where the author advocated what she called an “appropriate” diet. The word “appropriate” really spoke to me then and still does now. To me, accepting the limitations of age and infirmity (when they can’t be modified) is key. Yes, I can’t run or eat as I once did, but I do think I have improved my capacity for acceptance and peace of mind.
Dennis, you appear to me very good at self-acceptance. I wonder whether looking back you too feel you have improved in this regard?
Well done. Well done. One smart girl you are!

Oh Dennis, I can’t believe you picked this topic for today. An hour ago I was running thru my head (at age 80) how much sense of action, motion, memory, computation I have lost. One of the worst things is it takes a long time to recognize the voices of singers. Sometimes I have to search my mind for the name of a singer and it turns out to be Sinatra. Same with faces. Same with vocabulary. The terror of the last seven years has taken it’s toll. That was the beginning of the visible assault on our country. The loss of mental and physical ability is humongous and I want to do something about it. Thanks for everything. 🎬

There is acceptance and there is acceptance! My friend accepts all the treatment the medical profession has to offer for her diabetes and she can’t walk. No complaints. Gently taking the drugs the doctor prescribes. Obediently poking herself twice a day. Me? I fight minute to minute to do the best with what I’ve got before it goes away before I can’t take care of myself anymore (age 80 now)! . . . TEN net carbs a day seems like it should handle your bg. Have you studied all about intermittent fasting? Fatty liver? How about this video by Dennis: 4 Powerful Tools that Reset Your Metabolic System and Lower Glucose
Hospital food years ago was healthier. I had to go in for surgery, maybe 7 years ago, and could find virtually nothing acceptable among the highly processed foods on the menu. You might need to arrange for someone to bring in healthier options if you need to return.

Hello Kathy, I do so agree. If your friend wants to follow a medical professional blindly, perhaps suggest she watch videos from Dr Eric Westman? He always emphasises that he tries to make low carb ultra simple for his patients. Dennis is more of a “Knowledge is power” teacher, which is a fit for me.
Thank-you for your suggestions. I think I am a pre-T1 rather than a pre-T2 diabetic. This explains why I can’t get better results. I paid privately for a C-peptide test, which came out borderline too low. I was told this meant either incipient T1 or advanced T2. I know I don’t have the latter, as my A1c has never been higher than very low pre (in the US) or normal (UK).
Another T1 sympton is that I am quite emaciated, and stay that way despite consuming quantities of fat and protein. I don’t think deliberate fasting is suitable for me, though in fact I do accidentally fast between c.5pm and c. 10am the next day.
I do know how painful it is to see friends & family destroying themselves. If you are getting good results, maybe your example may inspire them? Sadly, because my results are not stellar, my example is not encouraging.
Thank you Dennis.
I used to work at Sears back in the 80’s and 90’s, it was a good store and when someone gave you a gift from Sears it was a nice gift. I will get back on the course of the 4 things you mentioned. I’ve really slacked off and my readings are out of sight and I have another blood test in 2 months. Chin up and carry on right? I’m also going to go back and watch your videos for re enforcement.
Greetings from Ethiopia. That was really helpful. Thank you, Dennis.
Dennis, you are a treasure and I appreciate you. After losing 180 pounds and keeping it off for 10 years, now that I am 73, I am having the EXACT same problems you are. Sometimes I think breathing causes weight gain. I’m fighting it successfully but have to practically stand on my head to do so. I still have a normal A1C of 5.5% but again, it feels like I’m running out of options to keep it there. I agree with your recommendations, especially eating only 2 meals. No way can my body deal with 3 meals a day anymore without consequences.
Surgery is stressful to your body and stress raises bs. The Lord heal you.❤
Hang in there
@@tracy85777Thank you, that’s the most reasonable reply I’ve had.

Love that quote! 😅
Thanks Dennis for another extremely helpful video and for being so honest with us ❤
Congratulations! My last A1C was 6. Trying to get into the 5s, like you.
