Do you think it’s possible in our lifetimes to see humans living until 180?
YesYes!!! I want to live forever… this episode holds more value for me personally than any other I’ve viewed. A balanced commonsense approach to overall health and wellness that includes all aspects of well-being. Thank You!
Dm☝️ let’s talk about investment/
advice on how to trade.
When you have already done what Dave is saying, and then he says and confirms a lot what I was thinking and saying to myself, then you know Dave is giving the real truth bc I’ve experienced it as well.
It is not truth, it is just a personal anecdote. It’s not science.
I really get caught up in these interviews. So very fascinating. And many of the people being interviewed are likeable, to me at least. They are quite long so it seems there’s not enough time to finish them. Hopefully at some point you’ll have an event in a town where I could see this live. Yes! I’d even spend $$ on this vs. YouTube podcasts. Keep up the interesting work. And I’ll work on my self and body as well. So, mitochondria . Huh. (Guess I’m so in the dark). Thanks again. Thumbs up.
@Jake Richardson . It’s correct in the sense that’s it’s only confirming what I did, two people, but I think we would find many that experienced the same benefits as what he’s saying, and myself.
What do you find that works for you?
I have lost over 60 lbs this year fasting OMAD I feel great from a 44 waist to a 36 waist and my hunger is almost nil.
Love David Asprey and Bullet Proof & Intermittent fasting! I have never felt better!

White Vein Maeng Da Kratom could be an answer a lot of people are looking for to assist with fasting. It’s a pain reducer, but what got me into it was the extra mood and energy. I went from like a 7 to a 9 all day long, and before long I was going the whole day without eating while working a very physical job (and I got up at 4AM in the mornings religiously to go to the gym for an hour to work out very intensely before work). The stuff is magic and helps with opiate addiction so well american doctors want it banned.

Loved this interview!! I learned about Keto diet from Dave almost 5yrs ago on School of Greatness. Had autoimmune issues, gained 20 lbs, IBS, mitochondria dysfunction etc. Bulletproof coffee helped my SO much with fasting. Triglycerides dropped from 118 to 39!!! HDL went up about 5-7 points. Thank you Tom for interviewing some of the best people around nutrition/health/keto I really appreciate it!!!
The more I listen to the varying opinions from the various experts the more I believe the importance of listening to your body and genuinely doing what works for you.
Nice episode Tom….here are my thoughts:
Fasting – I agree with Dave that fasting doesn’t need to be rigorous. I have written about it several times and I follow it. A lot of times I would do 16 hours overnight and then go for my training. Other times I feel hungry and I would have pre-work out meal in the form of a fruit, potato, oats, etc. whatever I feel like or what is available in kitchen. I am always on a mixed diet. Some days are heavy on protein, some heavy on carbs, and some heavy on fat. I have never felt an iota of difference any day in my training.
I also vouch for the fact that one should watch their pre & post meals with fasting. Just fasting alone does nothing. In India, we will see several examples of men and women (more) who regularly fast say twice a week, or say 9 days at a stretch; and ironically most die unhealthy or young. At least, the people I know off or see around.
Sleep – Even though I do everything right naturally as experts explain and I would say that’s way we have learnt to sleep in the family. Everybody does this in my family and surroundings. Early to bed, rise early, do regular exercises/walk first thing in the morning and then start their day. Always slept in dark etc. etc.
However, to me sleep is more related to tiredness of body and mind rather than all the factors expert talk about. If you wake up at 5 am then you are bound to sleep at 9.30/10pm. This is how it works in 100% of people I know. And those who wake up late can never find their night sleep and since they can’t sleep, they will find some sort of entertainment – be it phone or tv.
Example – You wake up at 5am. Nobody listens to news at that hour because nothing changed from previous night. Right? You won’t open your phone – even if you open to check it, you will close it. Nobody is there to communicate with you at that hour. You wouldn’t like watching anything – not a movie or a show at that hour. So what are you left with? You would either go for a walk, or start your exercises and that’s then becomes a ritual for you. And when that becomes a ritual, it is up to mind now totally to make you sleep early. First day, or rather first few days, you will feel tired because its been a long day already. You should find sleep easy. BUT…I wish if mind was this easy to handle! Your mind would stop you and reminds you – its only 9.30. How can you sleep that early? Your bedtime is 11pm. This is where ‘no glasses’, ‘blue light’, or any other science remedy would work because you are driven by your mind.
Whereas, if you think of lives of all the successful, healthy, and wise people; you will find, they go to bed early barring an exception or two. And then may be you will be able to convince your mind that sleeping early is no sin. Mind has to be told that its been a long day and it needs to rest. How you convince it is on the individual because a few people would get convinced with a narrative whereas, others wont! Find a way.

I watched a Dr.Berg video of someone who fasted for 20-21 days but he had a tumor. He only consumed water and I think some vitamins/minerals. Not sure if that came after the fast (water only) but 20 days seems so long. But just so you know he got rid of the cancer (tumor).
Umesh Chhikara – makes sense…good, sound advice. Thank-you ;))
Don’t listen to this, or only do kratom for less than a week. Any longer and you will form an addiction that has even worse withdrawals
Tom, thank you for putting this all together. I love many of the interviews, that always, always have take aways.
I’m watching your interview with Dave Asprey on the subject of fasting a subject I am very interested in. I’ve listened and read about the research and opinions of several experts. They all approach fasting similarly but differ in various ways from one another. They also have and mention the person they admire as the “God Father” of fasting; Dave mentioned Dr. Longo and there are other. I was introduced to fasting many years ago; I am curious, no one mentions my god father of fasting, the man who went on a walkabout while on a water fast with Gandhi. He wrote the book “The Miracle of Fasting”; his name is Paul Bragg. I’m curious, is there something flawed in his method?
So much valuable information packed into this single podcast! I feel smarter every time I listen to Dave Asprey talk!
@Welcome To Nature Perhaps you meant full fast where you are not allowed to eat at all for days or weeks. I didn’t mean that. I was talking about intermittent fasting and that’s why we are discussing hours. Kindly read my comment again and am sure it will make more sense to you now.
Love this episode so much! Dr. Dave Asprey makes so much sense and it’s so easy to listen and understand.
Quick specific questions: 1. What are the bad oils? 2. Are oat milk or almond milk (home made) ok with coffee? Thanks a bunch! Be legendary! ;o)
Thanks For watching
Hit me up directly ☝☝.
I fast sometimes on Sundays. What I do is, I eat my last meal Saturday night, and then I go all Sunday without food, at then eat 1 meal at Sunday night, so by then, I’ve done like 24 hours fast.

I wished you could have asked about the different effects fasting has on a more carnivore vs vegan diet because he seems to have plenty of knowledge in this area. I’ve done both diets and I find a 48-72 hr fast while carnivore makes me feel much much better in contrast to a multi-day fast while vegan.
Nice feedback mate. When’s the book coming out ?
@Chaasadyah Charles yup. I didn’t listen to the whole interview. There may be some gems in here but too many conflicts by recent research by other experts in the longetivity field so I didn’t want to waste anymore time on this.
From my studies, I’m guessing he would answer – Oils made from seeds, (beans, legumes, grains) are typically the worst in terms of high omega 6, already oxidized (manufacturers even add deodorants because these oils start to go bad immediately), so corn, soy, peanut, sunflower, safflower, ”Vegetable,” oils are bad. Ditto oils like canola (rapeseed) that require strong chemicals to process, even though touted as being high in omega 3’s. obviously, anything called “trans fat.“ As for the milks, oat milk and almond milk have carbs, Just like milk has carbs. It doesn’t take many carbs to throw off a fast. coconut oil or more refined MCT oil and butter are the classic oils to add to coffee. Saturated fats are more stable. Omega 3 fats that are still in the food they came from are more likely to be fresh, like fish oil still in the fish. Salmon, mackerel, sardines. Of course, all of these oils do you have a mix of the different types of oil, so we pay attention to the ratio of 3 to 6 to 9 etc.
That’s not saying much. A person who has no nutritional education will just ‘listen to their bodies’ and eat a big mac every time they feel hungry. That’s obviously a gross exaggeration but it’s still very applicable. If an individual doesn’t know how to cook healthy, they will keep eating the wrong food, follow an incorrect regiment of fasting and deluding themselves into thinking they’re doing it right and the suffering is part of the game. There is A LOT of anecdotal garbage out there.
@Patrick M – Bragg was amazing. I have read several of his books. He was more of a water fasting guy, a purist. Also more of a vegan. I often wonder if pure water fasting was a lot safer and more comfortable back before we had so many nasty chemicals in our food, water, air…
Is it true, cause your name is not mentioned.A real person or?
Hope this theory and Diet works God Bless you all🙏🏿
@Bit & Rudder part of the purpose of an extended water fast is to flush those nasty chemicals and crap out of the body. When I do an extended fast, 4 to 7 days, I use distilled water. Of course, when you do a 7 day water fast you have to break it carefully. The good news is you probably won’t be hungry anyway. Bragg recommended stewed tomatoes on the evening of the break-fast.
@Patrick M – some people lack the DNA bits to effectively and safely clear toxins. As I found out on a fast, confirmed years later with DNA test. Almost went into kidney failure. My MD/ND sorted out the source as excessive heavy metal release via chelation challenge. I don’t do super deep detox any more unless doing other detox methods during/before it.
@Patrick M Breaking fasts hasn’t been an issue for me.
@Bit & Rudder Interesting; thankyou for that; I’ve often felt I might have a heavy metal problem. I’ll have to look into metals detox.
Great information! …Long Term water fasting has many life-changing benefits and ur not starving or hungry. Your body is smart and tells u when to eat again.
Not for everyone tho’. 😉
Gawd, I hope not….
How about we just live well and healthfully for 90 years first? No need to extend life just for the sake of extending life.
Having almost bumped myself off in youth through fasting for religious reasons. WARNING… Too much of a good thing is a bad thing… Well balanced video, thank you very much.
At 72 I did Ayahuasca in Ecuador. It opened my heart and freed me of my past traumas. Good set and setting.
