Fat Burning Anti Aging Kitchen
Special many thanks to John Gunstad, teacher with the Division of Psychological Sciences at Kent State University, for talking with us about his advanced study on just how losing weight impacts brain feature.
Adhering to is the transcript of the video clip:
Right here's what slimming down does to your body and brain.
Throughout the initial week, you may locate it easy to reduce weight by simply switching over to a much healthier diet. However as your metabolism adjusts, you will not melt as lots of calories as you used to.
So losing added weight will certainly end up being harder.
Making issues worse, as the fat melts away, you'll begin to experience a rise in cravings. After a dish, fat cells release a hormonal agent called leptin into the blood stream.
This surge in leptin levels signals to your mind you're full and need to stop eating. However with much less total fat, people who reduce weight reveal a quantifiable dip in leptin.
Mind scans of obese people that had lost 10% of their body weight revealed that much less leptin leads to raised task in areas of the brain that control our need to consume.
The result isn't just an enhanced appetite however an also more powerful urge to consume fatty, high-calorie foods, due to the fact that your mind is trying to bring back the body's leptin degrees to typical.
Nevertheless, dealing with that early impulse to stuff on pizza as well as donuts is worth it over time.
Besides the lowered danger of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol as well as type 2 diabetes, researchers studying overweight individuals discovered that losing simply one pound of body weight minimizes four pounds of stress on knee joints.
Shedding excess weight additionally decreases strain on the capillary, increases blood circulation to the brain, and improves overall brain function.
Several researches have actually revealed that people who underwent weight-loss surgical procedure saw an improvement in memory, focus, as well as analytic skills in as soon as 3 months.
And also, mind scans indicate that individuals that reduced weight and kept it off for nine months responded differently when shown photos of high-calorie foods than prior to they lost the weight.
The brain areas that process benefit, inspiration, as well as preference didn't react as strongly, whereas the locations that promote overall self-discipline had a boost in task.
So battling those yearnings at an early stage could make them less complicated to manage later. Turns out– like anything else– slimming down can obtain less complicated with method.

What Losing Weight Does To Your Body And Brain|The Body
Something no one will tell you about losing weight. You’ll be cold AF all the time. Coming from someone who lost 70lbs.
Have to say after losing 20kg in 7 months my cravings for high carb/fatty foods like pizza have dipped drastically. First few months the cravings were high but with a cheat day once a week it kept it all in check.
STAY STRONG PEOPLE, weight loss is about patience and commitment. Good luck!
I used to be really fat. I was on the verge of developing serious health conditions. I remember not being able to tie my shoelaces and my sleep suffered as well. My life changed when I finally set my mind to the thinking that anything is possible if you decide so. I took a meal plan to start with. I created it online, on dietarize, which was super helpful to me. I didn’t have to worry about calories, macros, nutrients and all that stuff, I just focused on walking long distances and exercising after I got on a level where I could do some simple workouts. I hope my story will inspire you to do the same. To change your body you must first change your mind!
I’m 47 years old and I’ve been obese my entire adult life. I had a gastric sleeve on May 18, 2018 and after that switched to a whole-foods diet. It’s almost three years later and I’ve lost 83kg (183 lbs.) and feel much, much better! I went from a size 3XL to a size M. When I crave calories I go for healthy sources like fruit and nuts, instead of sugar and oil. And I try to eat as many vegetables as I can. I don’t do a ton of exercise although I do enjoy bike riding. I hope I can keep the weight off for good. I agree with the video, it gets easier with time.
The hardest part, at least for me, is getting started. I’m beginning to reduce my sugar intake and raise my water intake and look to increase my activity level. So sensible changes that can last a while.
During quarantine, I gained almost 50 pounds. I woke up one day looked in the mirror and told myself that I looked absolutely repulsive. At that moment I needed to change how I lived. I did research that whole day on diet planning, workout routines, then planned out how to check progress. I started on June first of 2020, about 3- 4 months later I lost 40 pounds from following the plan and watching guys on YouTube. I started at 245 now a year later I’m 200-205 lbs I keep fluctuating. Goal weight I am shooting for is 190 lbs. The hardest part of this journey is to stay consistent and fight the cravings of wanting sweets and fatty foods. It’s ok to have a cheat day, just watch how much you put in. Moral of the story, now I am in the best shape of my life and I couldn’t be happier.
My dad went on a run, 32 years ago… He must have some stamina
My dad was hovering around 230lbs for almost 20 years. He reached as high as 240lbs at one point. He was working out five days a week, but his diet was simply not in check. However, finally a year and a half ago he got his diet in check and now he is a lean and mean 180lbs. Keep in mind he’s 6’3” so it’s not obese obese, but still. Very proud of him. I watched him throughout the entire journey.
I’ve lost 25lb over the summer, just walking every day, lifting weights and trying not to eat as much. It’s surprisingly easy to keep the routine going once you get through the first few weeks. Once you start seeing results, you’ll start doing more and more just from the positive results and how you feel. At 31, I’m the lightest I’ve been since I was 17! Interestingly, as I continue to lose weight, friends of mine are finding it! Lol
I’ve lost 50 pounds over the last four months, and like the video stated, it was easy at first. The pounds literally just melted away, all I would do is walk or jog for an hour 4-5 days a week and have one meal. I was incredulous at the results and berated myself for not starting to lose weight sooner. It seemed so easy, I was highly motivated and had minimal cravings. At around 30 pounds lost, I felt like I hit a plateau, the weight loss slowed, and the cravings(especially late at night) came back in full force. After relapsing I doubled down and made it to losing 40 pounds, but the cravings came back even more intensely, after struggling with that for a while, I pushed on and reached the 50 pound milestone. I still get intense cravings, and it’s really hard, but this video helps me understand why and puts things into perspective. Thanks.
Another benefit: increased self confidence and that’s priceless.
This is so accurate. I lost 45lbs this year (started 10-months ago). Everything in this video happened to me.
I started using an exercise bike back in March. When I started, I was burning just over 400 calories during my 60 minute workout. Throughout the past nine months, I’ve increased the difficulty every couple of months and am now up to burning just over 1,000 calories in 60 minutes. I’ve been doing this daily since March and lost over 50 pounds. I’ve been eating healthier, too. I feel healthier, look healthier and my mental state has improved tremendously.
For me the tricks to losing and keeping off weight:
-Do small changes gradually: this is a marathon, not a sprint. Do slight adjustments every day means they could be maintained over time.
-Eat a little less than I burn: only eat till I’m not hungry, not till I’m full.
-Befriend slight hunger: be a bit hungry for awhile before I eat. Like intermittent fasting, but not as extreme.
-Reduce sugar intake: I pretty much cut out soft drink, though still eat chocolate once in awhile.
-Use belly fat as a gauge: if I squeeze my belly, and there’s still some fat, I could eat a little less.
-Exercise everyday: does not need to be overboard, even a few minutes every day is good.
I lost 36lbs (16.3kg) this year, hopefully 40lbs by the end of this month. Only about 5 months of actually being on a diet. If you hit a plateau, I think the trick is to take a break from your diet but don’t eat beyond your calculated metabolic rate. I took a break in my diet from June – Sept and did not gain any weight, and when I continued the diet in Oct, I started to lose weight quickly again. You’ll get hard cravings and feel almost sick the first week of starting your diet, like a brain fog. After that it will subside.
Make 1 day a week cheat day to keep your metabolism in check. Cut out sugar and refined carbs from your diet. Eat about 1500 calories a day. You’ll lose weight even sitting at a desk. Make water your new favourite drink (or tea or coffee – with stevia, not sugar). Caffeine is good because stimulants reduce your appetite.
Gratz man,,,, the first month is always the hardest after 4-6weeks it will just be natural
I was 300lbs just a little over a year ago currently at 207lbs. Getting started is the hardest part but after you get into a routine it’s the simplest thing ever. Best advice to give would be to cut out sugar there are many great zero sugar alternatives out there if you’re craving something sweet. Also working out even if it’s just 3 days a week for an hour you will feel so much better and the results will show in due time.
Well done, bud. I’m a fatboy (obese) and I just bought an exercise bike myself about a week ago and I’ve been hitting it every day. I do about 20-25 mins and burn around 400 calories, according to my gauge anyways. I’m sure it’s a bit less than that, maybe 300-350. But I feel so amazing for the rest of my day. I’m also in a major calorie deficit due to eating smarter and fuller foods. Can’t wait to drop my 50 lbs like you did. Keep at it and God bless!
Self control is like a muscle. It gets tired easily in the beginning but the more you exercise it the stronger it gets.
Little improvements, every day, add up. Just keep on keeping on !
Cutting out sugar is step one. No more soda, sugar in coffee, deserts every day… then from there you eat less… preferably less carbs… couple these with weight training, good sleep and good hydration and your body will adjust and start shedding the weight.
@Leila Perrien “Super toxic” in the sense of negative judgment of self? I don’t see it that way. I see it as a practical indication that e.g. I could eat a little less rice. But I could see how others could see it differently. Do what works for you. : )
I agree personally for me I give up way too fast after getting tired once and don’t have any energy
@Leila Perrien if you have an ed then you probably shouldn’t do that because it would only make you feel worse about yourself but for others it could help motivate them to lose weight
@hah no LMAO
That’s awesome! 🙌🏽
Still chuggin along
I was obese and so far I’ve lost over 50lbs in the last year. At first I kept craving fatty and high carb foods, but with persistence I stayed in a calorie defecit, and now I don’t get any cravings for unhealthy foods, and I’m finally close to my ideal weight. I am determined to never let my weight get out of control again. The only way to keep weight off is to live a healthy lifestyle. It’s ok to treat yourself occasionally, but don’t let bad habits creep back.
Its good that you are trying. But pro tip: get a routine. A boring routine. Body becomes fat after the hormones go awry. And the hormones go awry when our cycadian rythm is disrupted. Turns out our endocrine system regulates our mood and cravings, which is only regulated by a proper sleep cycle. Work with ur cycadian rythm. Wake up an hour before sunrise. Go to sleep within an hour of sunset. In the meanwhile, make sure you take out 40 mins for some sort of physical activity: some cardio, some zumba, some planks. Preferable if it is done early morning after having an apple.
Everything will fall back into right place if you make sure to wake up early morning. Just switch your binge-watching personal time from late night to early morning. That will get you on the right track.
Cut out soft drink might sounds simple but in my case it’s truly made huge impact.
I lost 70 pounds the past 9 months lifting weights, doing cardio exercises and riding a bike. I’m 29 and in even better shape than I was after basic training in the military at 19 years old. If anyone is struggling to lose weight who is reading this..it might be tough, you might want to give up, but keep pushing! Good things will come out of it!
💀
😂😂
50 pounds in 4 months??!! Are you sure? God that’s an insane loss and drastically fast also. I was never overweight but I was 170 pounds 4 months ago and I’ve lost 16 pounds I’m 154, I feel SO much better now it’s insane
@William_Regner, “to change your body you must first change your mind!” Very well said! And the fact that you did it makes me really proud of you! Well done!
Exercising can be hard sometimes but It always makes me feel better. Last year I had almost 300 lbs in body weight. One day I just started moving more, then slow running then I started doing weighted exercises and I was eating clean by following meal plan I got from Next Level Diet. Today I have 200 lbs and I am happy like I never been in my life.
@AE so, how’s your progress? It’s been 4 months since you typed this.
@Submariner I started out about 217-220 when I wrote that, and I’m down to 173 now. I feel amazing and look 100x better. I still want to lose about another 10 lbs I think, maybe to 165. I can see the first 2 abs below my pecs barely starting to show, but there’s still too much fat in that area.
did he return?
@Nadir Mohammed nope!
But how to change your mind to change your body that’s the question
@mememe memeq this is a wonderful way to regulate this sort of thing, i may take this tip from you! I always noticed that when I work hard to lose weight and I relapse once or twice, I start to lose weight faster afterwards
I work at a grocery store and I still don’t see my dad there
lets train together 💜
@Sophie’s FIT Here here!
I think it’s best if you allow yourself to eat what you crave, allow urself to eat it, and that could be a tiny portion of it, it doesn’t have to be the whole thing u eat. I learned that being too strict on urself only leads to binge eating…
@AE awesome job dude!!
@Heir2N01 i lost 45 in a little over 3 months and the only reason i lost that much is from basically starving and barely exercising, 16 pounds sounds like a much better and more sustainable amount to lose in that period of time. you’re more likely to not gain it back
@mary I’m sorry to hear about the extreme reasons for you’re weight loss 😧 whatever you’re going through I truly hope it gets better. Please stay healthy and seriously if you ever need to talk anything through I’d be happy to provide that and do so! I have messenger and other talk apps so please feel free to reach out,
Same thing but 32 and instead of walking, running 3/4 times a week.
I know what you mean. I’m 66 and started keto and intermittent fasting 6 months ago (to lower my blood pressure), and without even trying, I managed to drop 32 lbs. It’s amazing to fit back into those clothes I was about to discard.
I’m a very lax person, so my approach was very lax.
I just needed to learn how it all works, and then only needed to tweak a few things in my eating habits. I’m good at adapting to new ways to replace my destructive habits.. Keto followers have created a treasure trove of recipes and treats that help keep you on the path.
I’m still slowly losing weight. Maybe another 7 will make it perfect.
This was really encouraging
Who’s the YouTuber?
@Evian Wahter just to clarify you’re saying that the laws of thermodynamics are still being followed, because based on what you eat and other activities will effect how your body adapts and decides to expend energy. In some cases your body will reduce energy consumption in order to maintain a body weight for future necessity.
@Syn It actually doesn’t, over 90% of caloric restriction diets will fail in the long term. I’ve lost 80kg in about 9 months. It was super fast. I managed to keep it all off for about 5 years or so, and then it started to get back. I’ve slowly regained 50kg. When I got in front of a bariatric surgeon a while back and told my story, he said: this is the rule. You are no different. Then he added that more than 90% of nonsurgical treatments for obesity will fail in the long run. Even for bariatric surgery, it is expected that around 20% of the patients fall into one of the criteria for treatment failure after 5 years.
@Ernesto Berger …
That’s not a fault of the diet, that’s a fault of you. You didn’t put the weight on because of the fact you restricted calories 5 years ago, you put it back on because you lost control of your eating and/or lessened your physical activity. It’s literally thermodynamics. Cut calories, loose weight. There’s nothing to argue. Also cutting calories isn’t meant to be a permanent thing. Obviously.
@Syn, you are talking from a place of sheer ignorance. Clearly is not a matter exclusively of thermodynamics, since a block of wood may have 10000kcal(calories are a thermodynamics unit, not a physiological one). I can eat one of them per day and never get fat.
Firstly, the body doesn’t know how many calories you are consuming. It doesn’t have a caloric sensor, but hormones that respond to macronutrients essentially. The body knows whether it has to store or burn energy through hormones. Different types of food signal different types of results. A 1000kcal of celery is not physiologically the same as 1000Kcal of candy. The effects on body weight are radically different.
Secondly, your premise is absolutely wrong because you are assuming that the physiological system of the body is static and non-adaptive to the caloric balance. This is a lie. If you eat less, your body tends to adjust to functioning with less energy. No, you can’t reach your ideal weight by eating 1200kcal and then shift to 2500kcal and maintain it. Studies have shown that people who lose a lot of weight have their basal metabolic rate way lower, they regain the weight and that basal metabolic rate doesn’t follow, since powerful, compensatory metabolic processes come into play to regain weight until it reaches or surpasses that previous threshold. For thousands of years, losing weight was a signal of a body dying of starvation.
Thirdly, I regained weight because I was eating about 1000kcal and doing hours of exercise every day to keep my weight down. It is not sustainable and it kept getting increasingly hard.
Fourthly, it is not that people get lazy or stop doing the hard work. The body does that most of the time. It fights to regain the way back. This is a reality for people who undergo bariatric surgery. They can’t consume large quantities, but the body keeps pushing for more calorie-dense foods, and slowly they regain the weight.
@Ernesto Berger You can’t… yet here I am. 7 months from the last comment and I hit a low of 81kg from 115.
I’ve done a slight surplus up to a weight of now 86 gaining muscle, to which I will now cut calories again (very slightly) to loose the fat a gained during the bulk.
You can keep dropping your non cited “studies” and I’ll use the tried and tried method of every bodybuilder. Have fun with your magic weight gain uou can’t seem to figure out 🤣
Awesome
My fingers got cold in the winter after losing 35 lbs and going below 13%BF
See a nutritionist. I was clueless/lazy to search on the internet ways to lose weight (besides of course doing exercise). When paired with their help, I could lose 21kg to this day (since december of the last year) and I’m going for more.
Nah i lost 100lbs im never cold
Yup yup yup finally I think it mostly happens when we’re losing it through diet only one way to work it up would be by doing weightlifting, muscle building n stuff so that you remain metabolism at a coordinated pace by improving muscle tissue density n volume
For real haha. I’m down at least like 50 and I either freeze or sweat a lot
I thought I was getting weird after losing 15 kgs that I get cold so easily but I feel better after seeing your comment 😂
I always learn something new when I read your posts.
I appreciate how this blog focuses on providing solutions rather than just discussing problems. It’s a refreshing approach.
The richness of your posts is truly something special.
Every time I read your work, I learn something new.
