Hey remi whats up! I wanted to say I appreciate ur videos and sharing your journey with a herniated disc,….man I’m a 28 yr old male with now …a herniated disc same as urs only to the left, practically same story and my time of excruciating pain started last week and Iv been on bed rest since, I am an ac installer so my job isn’t the best to have with a severe herniated disk,…now I’m faced with this life changing condition and i may very well have to leave my profession all together, I saw all ur vids and GOING to follow all ur tips as my journey is starting , but now without a job ,there’s no insurance,…so can u share some of the exercises u did for ur physical therapy to do at home, also I know everybody’s recovery time is different and varys but what’s ur advice if my symptoms subsided or got better in the near future (maby 2 months from now) if I picked up where I left off with my job?….thanks bud I greatly appreciate if u see this and respond!
Also, how have u been keeping it!?
Hey Buddy. Sorry to hear about that. I can only imagine what your going through. It’s never an easy thing dealing with low back pain. The one thing with exercise is that everyone is different in were they may be and what they may respond well. Some may respond well to a plank, some may not. Hard for me to give any recommendations. But if you’re looking for a place to start the McGill big 3 trend to be a good start 🙂
Hi Remi, thanks for sharing your knowledge about low-back issues. I was wondering if you would suggest to re-incorporate low-back mobility/stretch exercises (lumbar flexion and twisting not under compressive-load) when bulging disc symptoms are gone. Already thanks for your reply, Dani.
remi what should i do when my bigest trigger is standing still for long period of time, i got herniated disk and even siting is less pain than standing still for exended period, can u tell based on that info what may be adition issues with me and what is best to do .
– Dani
Perhaps! But depends on your goals! If you’re powerlifter – probably not a good idea, however, a gymnast is a different story.
@Jesus Rodriguez it can come pretty quick if you can fix the nerve issue. Nearly right away you may notice strength improvements.
Eight days from the compression away from the nerve u mean?
@Jesus Rodriguez sorry meant to say “right” away
Hi Remi. I am not a powerlifter for sure. Actually I am trying to get stronger. I have been doing Yoga for a long time but not enough low back stability training I realize now. Lots of stretching together with a mild scoliosis brings some disc instability now and then. Hanging from a pull-up bar makes things better. I now want to focus on strengthening my body but not losing the mobility, you know…my goal is a more athletic body.
Lol my bad u did I just read eight for some reason…..well that’s good to hear…..i know epidural shots are just a bandaid but I made the deacion to go through with one 2 days ago man I just needed relief really bad and from here on out I’m gona go about healing naturally but …pain is minimal now but my leg is really walk still….i tried to go for a walk at the park yesterday only lasted about 15 mintues tho man ….fuxking sucks

No. The best exercise for improving joint stability is going to be different for everyone. The McGill 3 are very basic starting exercises. Progressions eventually have to be made to ensure for improvement in joint stability. That may be incorporating an exercise like a suitcase carry or perhaps even a squat or deadlift.
Hey Remi,
im 24 and I was recently diagnosed with Lumbar osteoarthritis L4 L5! I’m really frustrated cause I was on my weight loss journey and pretty active! Now I’m having severe low back pain ( despite medication) and stopped workin out. I used to do boxing, HIIT, body combat, body attack, body pump and weight training but now I don’t know what kind of exercise I’m supposed to be doing in my case and feel so stuck and depressed cause I’m afraid I’m gonna put on weight and make my case even worse and workin out is my only passion and stress relief ! Especially that there’s no enough informations and guidelines to follow in such situation! I really need your help! Thanks 😊

Sorry to hear that buddy. Nerve fun thing dealing with low back pain and having to take medication. As per helping out, it sounds like you may be a good candidate for my coaching service if you’re interested. I work with people with back issues that are trying to get back to a sport (e.g., weightlifting, MMA), lose weight or just trying to live life pain-free. Here is a link to my service if interested and a video with how my assessment/coaching process works:

Hey man
Good to see you healthy, I heard your story and and it looks like you don’t have any injury or pain now which is really good.
Just wanted to asked how it effect your life? (Herniated disc)
Does it also effect sexual life of a person??
Does herniated disc mean you can’t run or go gym anymore? Or avoiding lifting??
Does the pain stay forever?
Do you suffer from back pain everyday??
Too much question, just really worried about my health, seeing a doctor but pushing him for X-ray or MRI’s takes long.

@Remi Sovran by the way Remi i dont know how was in your case but for me the only think that gives me temporary relief is hot showers i dont know why but the hot water is good for my back pain do u know why is this?
Heat provides an analgesic effect. Similar to how a pain-killer acts 🙂
@Remi Sovran did u find or still finds hot water as an effective tool
Ya it’s a natural pain-reliever and can perhaps promote healing.
Remi hii love u alot thanks for vedio
Thanks, Nasim!
Should I do this exercise? I have a disc bulge. And any video for lower abs workout for a person having disc injury?
– Abdullah
Depends on your goals and what are you looking to achieve?
For abs, birdogs, plank variations, rollouts, carry’s tend to be good options 🙂
@Remi Sovran I basically wanted to ask that will this rope exercise trigger my back pain? Like there is so much jerk in this exercise!
– Abdullah
I don’t know. It’s an exercise people with existing back issues need to be careful with. But I can’t say it’s going to be bad or okay for you, especially considering I haven’t seen you move, your fitness level and complete medical history.
I have multiple spine fusions. I’ve wanted to buy some for my home gym. Your video was helpful in helping me from wasting time and $$
Glad it was helpful Mike ! 🙂
