That my friends, is what a REAL Supergroup sounds like. Unbelievable…. every single note!.
The world needs a lot more of this!
The 80’s metal bands were a dime a dozen when metal went mainstream. You had all sorts off mashups. Hell even Bad Company pulled in a new lead singer and had a few hits. But man oh man. Do I remember Mr. Big. When their debut album came out and I heard Addicted To That Rush, I was hooked. The whole album is fire. I love their version of 30 Days In The Hole. And the album Lean Into It is pure gold. Hell I proposed to my wife while listening to, To Be With You. It’s our song. This band was a true Supergroup. Love them. And RIP to the one and only Pat Torpey.
Incredible. Just incredible. Awesome musicians. Amazing band. Great songs. Lightning in a bottle!
Billy Sheehan is a bass prodigy
Addicted to that rush is like 70% Bass
Saw them open for Rush. I think it was on Roll the Bones tour. They were amazing just like in this video. Power house musicians. Can’t help but smile watching that bass solo. Just incredible.
These guys are the Masters a fretboard gymnastics unbelievable
Okay so imagine one of the best bass players of all time and one of the best guitar players of all time in the same band. Oh wait.
Prodigy is the name for a child savante. The term U need is VIRTUOSO for an accomplished adult musician.😉
And Billy got to do it again with DLR/Steve Vai.
One of the hardest working bassist. Does this effortlessly.
Legend says that Paul and Billy are still addicted to jamming together up until today
Saw them when opened for Rush on the Presto tour too!
The sound like Eddie Van Halen on bass guitar, eruption Mr. Big version. Salute.
Billy Sheehan does things on a bass you never thought possible. Just ridiculous. The work put into his craft is legendary.
And one of the best drummers in rock! And Eric Martin is one amazing vocalist too!
He is the Eddie Van Halen of bass!!!!! JUST AMAZING IN EVERY WAY!!!!!!!
@Alex Gibbs billy shehann also adds same attribute
Dont have Paul that highly.rated as you. Your call absolutely nothing wrong with your choice. I’ve seen Eddie srv Eric Randy Carlos Ritchie. Blackmore George lynch Tom Sholz Ric Emmett last 2 are my favourites. Best i heard pic a axe was Joe satriana Hands down. Its all personal preference
Don’t forget the absolute legend, Pat Torpey!
@jandvadams yeah my friend, it was a great time. Walking in the rain. The one time i go to orange it rains the whole time -.- anyway pg is SO humble and so cool. At the time i was soft spoken, and wasn’t thinking about his hearing loss. I started asking him a question and instead of asking me to speak up, he leanded in and cupped his ear. I was shocked. A rock god, my favorite of all time, is accommodating ME. And no, he wasn’t being facetious
@Greg Hoskin I had the opportunity to see them here in Baltimore back when Lean Into It came out. Hands down one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. Never had the chance to meet Paul. But I hear he’s a real humble guy and loves to talk to his fans. That’s so cool you got to meet him.
@jandvadams yeah he’s super humble and i wish i could have seen mr big play live. They are awesome. Friend of mine went to the music institute, and now teaches there. But when he was a student he saw PG. Went up to him and explained back home he had a friend that was a super fan. He sent me a an autograph and an orignal PG drawing. Thanks Frank!
@Greg Hoskin Wow. That’s really cool. I hope you framed the drawing and autograph.
@jandvadams that too
Absolutely
He is the Steve Vai, from a guitar bass!!
The part I don’t get is how did To Be With You get to be their top song with all the talent and innovation of those two guys?
Apparently he practiced with elastic bands wrapped around all his fingers so when he took them off he could play fast like this, unreal total dedication, the Eddie Van Halen of bass guitar
Pull offs, hammer on’s and crazy string acrobatics. But can we take a second to appreciate the batshit crazy 32nd notes Pat is playing on the hi hats back there? He is an astonishing drummer.
@Rick Sorber Sappy Pop songs sell… I’ll never forget talking to a friend of mine that that was the only song he had heard from them.he called them that “wimpy band” I laughed out loud at him,lol I said “Listen to ‘Addicted to That Rush’ then come see me “
I don’t think that’s true, but I wouldn’t put it past billy
Take Sheehan, Bumblefoot, Portnoy, Sherinian and Soto….then you have a Supergroup!!
SONS OF APOLLO
Rush must ave whyyyy did we let them open 4uS
O Yes!! And Van Halen!! :))
They’re both amazing! Wish we got to see them collaborate on something. Van Halen with Billy Sheehan would’ve been outta this world.
@William Allen Billy Sheehan and Pat Torpey performed with Eddie Van Halen….
most of the first album….
I used to see him in Talas all the time. I’d get right up in front of him and just watch.
@matt hazelby A Basplayer is never noticed till he,s Not there !
He the Billy Shehan of bass bro.
@Вадим Банкетов while Stanley Jordan is great he is not even close to Kurt cobain
Aside from the musical pyrotechnics, (phenomenal!), I just can’t believe how freakin’ TIGHT this band is! Every single one, a superstar! But, the sum is greater than the parts.
he is a magician.
He may not be your type of player but you must respect the passion and amount of time the man puts into his craft. To this day he says he still practice hours a day.
Billy was probably the first bass player that blew my tiny little mind as a young lad.. him and Steve Vai was an awesome combo.. Absolutely brilliant performance from all of them..
You’re absolutely right! That is really crazy, especially around 6:56. Have no idea how it is even possible.
I notice if I play bass for awhile I’m much faster at guitar.
@Ruby Tuesday Eddie wanted him in the band during the Roth era
No doubt about it
I love Eric’s personality. I could see him as a little kid sneaking up to doorbells, ringing them with a few quick finger pumps; then running as fast as be could. But the neighbors would instantly know it was him, because he was the speediest kid in the whole damn neighborhood.
If that were an Olympic sport, they would win gold every time.
He’s absolutely Mind Blowing! 🔥💯
I think I heard fragments of EVH’s eruption in that incredible bass solo… Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert are unbelievable guitar gods!
@Dan same it was at the forum but what I remember of Mr Big was paul and that I wanted them to get off the stage so RUSH would get up there and get that show started
