Dependency doesn't have anything to do with what one is addicted to: it can't be neatly outlined to those that rely upon narcotics or alcohol. In its significance, dependency merely indicates leaning on something – it could be anything – since it prevents certain concepts from entering our minds. The addict depends on their chosen search to obstruct unwanted emotions from storming the theatre of their consciousness …".
