innova still has insane reach with the older crowd, they don’t switch haha
Ive never seen Innova Hype… they have the best reach because they are the most available in brick n mortar stores…
I don’t currently have any Innova in my bag, but the reason it’s popular imo is because when you walk into any store that sells discs that isn’t a dedicated disc golf store, all the $10 discs are Innova, and you can build a full working bag of base line Innova discs, at least as a beginner/intermediate player.
You usually won’t find any Trilogy, MVP, Prodigy, Discmania, etc. discs at that price. Sometimes you’ll find some base line Discraft, but I think that’s a fairly recent change.
When I lived in Nashville I found a disc mania batwings disc. When I first found it I noticed it had a faded signature that was difficult to read as well as a PDGA number. I thought nothing of it. But a couple months later I looked closer and saw the signature was John McBeth. From what I know he doesn’t sign many peoples discs and he signs his own like the one I found. So it likely could have been his disc when he lived in Nashville. I then got it signed by Paul as well at the Music City Open. Coolest disc I own because of the signature and the batwings
Always entertained by the bubble around younger disc golfers/disc golf media. They’re often like, “What’s the deal with Innova? No one uses this stuff.” Meanwhile Innova is bigger than all the other non-Discraft brands combined.
“I don’t know that I’m the best person to talk about this” – proceeds to bring out a ton of collectible Innova discs in baggies 😂
CE is what paved the way for premium plastic discs
Keep this format of a guest and their collection!
One of my favorite discs is a midnight buzzz bottom stamped with gbo stamp I believe it was 2015. don’t think there were many made.
Some cool plastic I would love to see on here is the Streamline discs from MVP. I love the plastic they use and it’s my first dive into MVP.
In the 80s I only recall Innova and Millenium discs. Checked up on Millenium says founded -94 but I swear people were throwing PolarisLS back when, maybe it was right around the back end of the first period of playing.
Literally at the shop yesterday and an older guy asked about straight to understable fairway driver and I offered the diamond and F5 and the guy went straight for a DX Beast. Ain’t nothing I could do to talk him out of it.
How does everyone like the format of this episode? Should we make others like this? Maybe get some of you to show off your collections?
@pettaerekkieli exactly 🤣 no matter what if it would save them money, effort from wearing in new ones, or just plain time, some just prefer dx throwers and 8 destroyers in varying abuse levels
Would be sick to have more guests come on the show and share their collections! Also would love to have hunter come back with his discraft and other brand collection!
RE: the quiz. The Aero is not still in production (although the Factory Store occasionally posts a few up for sale), which means that the oldest Innova disc still in production is the Aviar Classic, which is the original Aviar. PDGA approved Jan 1, 1984. The modern Aviar Putt & Approach was introduced 3 years later.
I’d love to see more of Hunter’s collection. One of my favorite episodes for sure
I like that y’all went through Hunter’s collection, and he explained each disc he brought. Would love to see further collection episodes maybe even from people outside foundation! Great Job!
Actually really enjoyed this format of more of an interview type. Was sweet, nice collection Hunter! A discraft episode would be gnarly.
Yeah this is better.
Bring hunter back and go find the craziest disc collection in the states.
This episode was AWESOME! Would def want to see more episodes like this sprinkled in, and love the idea of bringing on fans of the show/Foundation to show off their collections. It will be interesting to see what people who have been collecting for a long time have, and even people who’ve been only playing a short time.
I would love to hear Robbie C gush about the collectible discs in his collection.
ya, it was fun
Hunter, I would legitimately send you $100 for that compass rose stamp Aviar3… like RIGHT NOW… that thing is a gem 💎 😮💨
Very interesting, it’s like a history lesson for Discgolf fans, I love it!
I am somewhat anti Innova but did just buy a Factory second Star TL3 for sentimental sake and this plastic mix is incredible. It’s kinda teal swirl and pretty transparent, feels amazing. Similar to Hybrid from Trilogy which is my favorite plastic.
There are levels to everything. The deeper you get into to something, the more you realize how deep it can go.
