The real problem is
She’s eating it without SAUCE
I’m not mad at her French fry addiction, I’m just mad she only eats those nasty frozen ones
never thought i’d ever see a lady crying over eating a blue french fry
Crazy how nobody is ever addicted to healthy foods on this show
Cant they blindfold her and give her the rainbow fries? Then ask her what was different and remove the blindfold and tell her that she was eating a different fry. And then she’ll realise that it’s all just in her head
good for her for having the blue one! good job on that big push! hope all is better now for her xoxo
I remember this episode
She had this rare genetic disorder that made her sense of taste RIDICULOUSLY sensitive. So to her she could actually taste everything right down to the food coloring in those rainbow fries. People with this condition have difficulty eating because EVERYTHING tastes TERRIBLE to them. The French fries well… she was desensitized to them. That’s why she could eat them.
The only solution was to desensitize her sense of taste to things besides French fries
You did amazing Amber! The first steps are always the hardest, well done!
Honestly the rainbow French fries are so cute I would eat them as like, a snack 😂
seeing some people make fun of this girl and get angry at this girl upsets me so much, I have a disorder called selective eating disorder and its very similar to this, I’ve never tried a vegetable, the only fruit I can eat is apple cause they’re crunchy and not overwhelming, all I eat is fries and… some chicken nuggets, ive been eating this way for 16 years and it’s so frustrating to gain the courage to eat a new food, but then throw it back up cause the texture is scary, i can’t eat healthy no matter how hard I try cause my brain won’t let me try, and my parents won’t help me, I’m not allowed to stay at friends’ houses anymore, it’s so frustrating it’s so annoying I just wish I could eat like everyone else, so many foods smell great but if its put infront of me ill judt, pick it up and stare at it, eventually nibble a tiny bit, gag, and throw it back up
I have a similar but less extreme version of her disordered eating so I can pretty well relate to her anxiety and struggle around trying new foods. The therapist starting with the different coloured fries is actually a really good first step, taking a “safe” food and changing the colour, flavor, or texture slightly is a good start with getting better.
Makes me wonder how a person like her would survive in a less privileged era or country when/where you can’t necessarily choose what you eat or how often.
The fact that she’s in such great shape even after eating fries almost all the time-
*Cries in the corner of the room*
I don’t understand how they would give someone who has eating issues mushrooms, asparagus, and carrots. Those have very strong and distinct tastes and a lot of people who aren’t even really picky don’t enjoy them lol.
Apparently she has very sensitive taste buds. If you shut down some of her senses, the other senses will heighten.
I know this is a legitimate psychological struggle, but who allowed this to happen? At what point did her family allow her to eat nothing but french fries, like was it in her childhood or in adulthood? I really want to know how that phobia works, where it came from, how it developed and why. It intrigues me just as much as any other phobia
Well it’s not. She had a sensitive taste genetic condition where she can taste everything down to the food coloring.
She actually had a rare disorder that made her EXTREMELY sensitive to taste. She could even taste the chemicals in the food dye.
she got tested and turns out she has a genetic disorder that makes her extremely sensitive to the tastes and textures in foods. She’s working on it with real help (these ppl in this show don’t know what they’re doing) and now she’s able to eat a couple more foods like bread and eggs
I can’t believe they took her to melting pot 😭😭 I’ve lived near one for almost 10 years and never been. She didn’t deserve that.
I used to have food phobia when I was kid, until I was 26 years old. For me, cooking different kinds of foods for other people helped me a lot. After a while of cooking these foods, I found that I actually wanted to taste the foods I was cooking. I am now totally over my food phobia.
I don’t think making someone force themselves to eat is the right way forward. It’s a very negative thing in her mind, and now she will always associate carrots with this horrible moment. I totally understand her anger and frustration.
This used to really make me upset because I know how many people have nothing to eat and she has made a hell inside of herself that having something to eat so awful.
But now I understand that she can’t help herself and that I was wrong to judge her and others to begin with.
Finally someone understands that she can’t help it
I struggled with this up until my 20s. I was diagnosed with autism when I was 2. My taste buds were super sensitive. Chicken, pasta, pizza, seafood or anything sweet was my safe zone. When I got into my 20s, I knew I wanted to extend my menu and try new foods I wouldn’t eat every day. I wished my younger self had the courage to try other foods without me being ignorant about it at times. When I watch this girls story, I do understand her pain and I hope she strive this.
Never seen that in third world countries where people actually starve to death hahahaha
Yeah
I used to be like that and gag with some foods mostly because of the texture although I would generally eat basically most food.
As I grew up it slowly went away on its own and now I can eat everything just fine
I was thinking the same thing
As a person with Taste sensory issues, I know how scary it is to try something different . Texture, taste, seasoning, all of it can literally make you throw up
I think you are just spoilt, just like I was, Percimations mate. You can do anything you want, but you are giving up before you have even tried. Someone has enabled you. I believe you when you say that you feel you cant, but try to snap out of it, and be strong. You are in control of the simulation, Percimations YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!
She clearly wants help, so making fun of her is punching down.
What a beautiful colorful plate.
Yeah like those multi layered cakes lmao
I hope you get help. Thats scary
Ewe hell no ketchup on fries is nasty
😅😅😅
Lmaooooooo my thoughts exactly omg😆😆😆
@Detective Fowler why can’t you fry them?
Yes in a lot of those places you can’t buy frozen chips (fries), you have to make them from scratch. And I don’t think she would like that tbh
I never thought I’d see another coloured chip
I find cooked mushrooms pretty repulsive, partly from the slimy consistency (as if eating a nasty slug), and partly from the taste which is not very tolerable. However, I love eating uncooked white mushrooms in a salad. Not slimy and a very nice taste. There are many food preferences and strong dislikes which are not simply psychosomatic.
Bro your comment had me laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@Ahmed El Dahab exactly! Hot sauce is better
@Ahmed El Dahab nvm lol
I would try every color 🤣
It made her feel blue.
That’s total bs
Like at least go get McDonalds or Wendys or sum
Just cut some potato into slices
Honestly thought I was the only one who just didn’t like mushroom in my food. Yeah small itty bits or flavorings is nice tbh, but I don’t like slimy cooked mushroom or anything
@pixlblox9099 the Jolteon Correct! I actually like white uncooked mushrooms in a salad. But cook mushrooms down into a slimy gray mass of nastiness??? No thanks! That’s about as appetizing as gumming down a handful of writhing earthworms.
There was a woman addicted to eating carrots. Her son came out with bright red hair lol
@Rayven’s Trashcan my daughter has this. Its called sensory processing disorder. Smells make her gag and puke. Sounds overwhelming her to where she cries. Light makes her cry.
Lord my life is difficult with her. But I didn’t know why until I seen a special kid with it.
My child acted like her in every way.
@Alaina Hawes yea sounds like sensory issues lol. Or sensory processing disorder. Both terms are the same thing
Probably because it wouldn’t make a show.
I have a food problem as well. Where trying things is very very hard, like I have panic attacks. I WANT to eat the green veggies I WANT to try the healthy soup but my brain goes into fight or flight mode.
I’ve even almost thrown up trying to eat a garden salad. I didnt even taste it the thought of it entering my mouth made me panic
Thanks for the explanation! I didn’t judge her per se, but was confused as to why she has such an attachment to the fries.
I’m addicted to oxygen if that makes you change your judgment
And you don’t question how these people don’t get sick of eating the same junk food or how not all of them experience health problems from it!Hmmm!
Lol
Lol me2
Believe or not as a kid I was addicted to lettuce salad with pomegranate sour sauce (pretty common here) and I could eat a whole family size salad by myself
