Totally unrelated but both he and his mom have the most gorgeous skin. Aside from that I’m glad he was able to get unstuck and moved forward in his life. Holding on to grudges just traumatizes you more in the long run.
He’s a selfish, entitled, insecure, jerk. If he’s sooo traumatized he needs to get out his mother’s house. I’m sick of these adult kids crucifying their parents, while living in their house. Everyone goes through something in childhood. He needs to grow up. She should put him out. That’s all the help he needs.
Saying this man’s issue is “social media addiction” is like saying a drug addict is just addicted to stabbing themselves with needles. It’s a symptom. He’s depressed. He has low self esteem. He has a lack of trust for those he once held dear.

Lol I work with addicts in residential home helping the homeless get clean and find them housing and I LITERALLY had someone tell me they weren’t addicted to black, they were addicted to the needles 🤣 that was the only time I ever really had to take a moment and think on how I responded
I doubt his mother even knew what social media was when he was old enough to get his first phone. Also she’s from the Caribbean, and when she grew up there was no social media. I think she did her very best keeping her son involved in activities 5 days a week and trying to give him some type of spiritual guidance. No parent/person is perfect.
@Flawed And All I completely agree– she was an easy scapegoat to his dislike towards himself and chose to medicate with social media, but her lack of parental control with the digital world doesn’t seem to be the cause of it

Don’t know where his dad is but I can say with absolute certainty that the parent who STAYS is the one blamed for EVERYTHING wrong in that kid’s life even when the other parent should share just as much blame.

Addiction is a compulsive phycological need to for and use. Of course all addicts have depression, people have strange addictions, the issue is that is not validated as it should that someone can develop an urge to social media.

His parents choose to be parents, children don’t choose to be born. Yes, everyone goes through something but not everyone has a support system or tools to heal from it. Tough love isn’t always the answer. Further isolating an addict can do more harm than good. I hope he gets help and is able to truly heal.
