100% WRONG! Removing the feet from the stabilising position on the floor forces your body into an unstable position on the bench. The shoulders are then forced to take up this stabilising slack and are open to injury. If you want to protect your back, contract your glutes and abbs like Eb explains here, locking the pelvis and spine in tight. This will protect the spine, preventing it / you from flapping around like a floundering fish when the reps get difficult.
