I feel more accomplished after watching a 2 hour movie or documentary than I do spending 2 hours on Instagram
I believe part of this is because long form content gives your brain time to process the ideas of the content where as short form content you “get” the concepts but never fully understand them enough to apply them.
Great video. I will try to put some of your advice into practice. I think IOS and Android platforms and getting sucked into the never ending digital world and constant notifications is unhealthy and a habit I am trying to reduce with small steps. I can relate aswell to the urge for video games knowing in the long term it wasn’t the best way to spend my time.

The frequency of streaming video calms my nervous system and with all the ambient Stress of 2021 following 2020 I am Addicted. I will take all your tips going forward tomorrow and hope to be Offline and Outside more this Holiday Season.

If I could add something, I would suggest everyone looking for a little bit more of mental freedom, to use this Christmas time to detox from the “virtual reality” and enjoy the comfort of loved ones … and a lot of chocolate too lol

I appreciate you creating this video. My son (16 years old) struggles a lot with getting off his game or his phone to do the things he truly wants to do. I am going to share this video with him. He is a smart and talented kid ( who just bought some books on investing) but needs help to the consent distractions that take him away from what he truly wants to do.
You are really one of a few guys on the internet who have really understand more about life than any other of us dummies.. and that with your short time on this earth.

Thanks for sharing. Throwing in these types of videos is a nice touch. Kind of a more holistic take on investing and living well. Because after all, health and mental health are key to living well and I think these areas can suffer if you’re just investing for the sake of making the most money possible (which tends to be a moving target). IMO it’s important to check in with our “why” frequently along the wealth building journey.

Thank you for the honest advice! Personally, I think short form content is more addicting than it is helpful. I tried to use Tiktok and IG reels as well, but I realize that most of the content I watch weren’t really helpful, but were just satisfying to the point that we think they’re helpful (but they’re really not).
That’s why I uninstalled both apps because I would admit, I got addicted to them that most of the time I would lose track of time and forget doing what I was supposed to do.
Reels are the worst. Junk food for the brain.
We need more mothers like you. Thank you for loving your son enough to guide him onto the right path ❤️

YES to the short form content part! That is the biggest trap of social media and you’re really being conditioned by it
This is a well thought out and articulated video. I think this is one of the greatest challenges of our time. We can get instant gratification so easily now with no effort, and we micro-dose ourselves with cheap easy dopamine to get through the day…and we gradually and unknowingly make ourselves lazy and unwilling to earn our mega-shots of dopamine through actually earning and achieving something meaningful.
