We use Ceylon cinnamon sticks in oolong and green teas with great results. It helps with sugar cravings. We also soak fenugreek seeds in filtered water overnight and drink the water the next day. It has a wonderful maple flavor. These things have helped my pre-diabetic husband with insulin resistance.

I have extreme IR and I take all these except green tea. I’m currently doing OMAD and staying in ketosis, but I still have very high blood sugar especially in mornings. 160-200. Hopefully these will come down over time. I feel great and I’m dropping that last 15 lbs. Also trying to stay more active and adding some exercise. Hi sabina, thanks for sharing your experience. But after drinking the overnight soaked fenugreek water, what do you do with the soaked fenugreek seeds? You eat or just throw them out?
Took me 8 months of OMAD to stop my body to be insulin resistant, like Dr. Berg said sometimes takes more than a year to start loosing the weight, never give up!

@ABU SALEK Generally we throw them…if you forget to soak them then try boiling them in water for ten to fifteen min,strain it and drink it when it is lukewarm by adding honey(optional)

Thank you for another interesting video, Dr. Berg! There are a lot of articles that say that the only “real” cinnamon is the Ceylon cinnamon – it is chemically different from the rest of it. Does it matter which one you take?

@ABU SALEK I actually soak 2 tablespoons of the seeds in 16-20 oz of filtered water and after straining them out, reuse them again with just 6-8 oz for another night. After two soakings I add them to the compost bin or add them to yogurt because they’re sprouted after the double soak.
@Harriett Campbell I googled the difference: Saigon has high cinnamaldehyde than other cinnamons. Ceylon is considered “true cinnamon” as it is less riskier (safer) for people.

I bet the time could have been reduced had you done Two Meals A Day and consumed even more variety in your diet to feed that micro-biome what it needed in higher quantities and sooner.

@truending oh course I have diabetes which is caused by IR. My cells do not let insulin in, even though my pancreas is pumping it out. Thats insulin resistance. The Keto lifestyle and IF are working, but it’s a long process. You can’t fix 60 years of bad food choices in a few months, but every improvement is a blessing.
@Rick Thain I thought diabetes occurs when your pancreas can’t produce enough insulin.

Hey doc thank you for all your videos. They have completely changed my health in less than a week and that’s sadly my concern lol. I’m losing too much weight too fast between fasting 16-20 hours 7 days a week and working out. Should I eat more or fast less days?? Any sane advice helps, because of covid I’m 3 months behind on my Primary checkup
Dr Berg, first of all, thank you for your videos, it has really helped me to raise my awareness on the food and my life style. Second I have an important question that I wanted an answer if you get time. after listening to your videos I started cutting 95% of Sweet and confectionary and significantly (75%)reduced my carbs (bread, pasta and rice, etc) I also continued HIIT and weight training 4 to 5 times a week. I eat a lot more vegetables and 2 fruits a day. After your videos I also stopped snacking and I only eat during lunch and dinner. I drink coffee only on the morning with whole milk. I have lost 7kg and 3 inches of waist in a month. So extremely happy with my results. So here it is the question is my daily carb intake is still around 100g-120g (excluding green vegetables) so I cannot be on Ketosis, why have I lost fat? I still eat a cup of rice or a slice of bread or a potato per day. I also add black seeds, turmeric and cinnamon, cardamom and other herbs to my diet. I live in UK. Thank you so much for all your videos, it has massively changed this year for me.

For the cinnamon, I’d recommend Ceylon cinnamon, since the “regular” cinnamon (Cassia) is toxic if you have it for a long period of time or in large amounts. It contains coumarin, which may harm your liver and increase the risk of cancer.
Although the regular cinnamon is safe to eat in small or moderate amounts, it’s best to use Ceylon cinnamon. Though a bit more expensive.
Thank you Dr. Berg! I’ve been taking a GDA (Glucose Disposal Agent) supplement to assist in my weight training/body building endeavors. There seems to be conflicting camps of thought as to whether they work or not. 2 of the standard ingredients used in GDA’s are cinnamon and berberine, which you mention in this video. I love learning from you and I think it would be awesome if you did a video on GDA’s, just to give your opinion on the contents of the supplement and contribute to the debate on whether they’re helpful or not. 😊🙏

Love this list! As an herbalist they are spot on. I would specify that the cinnamon you need is Ceylon or cinnamon sticks. Ground cinnamon is too concentrated and will actually harm the liver if taken in excess, 1 teaspoon a day. So yes with keto cookies but no for tea, unless you use a Ceylon cinnamon stick.
